Just a quick hello from Lancashire. I have a pal with a poorly tiger 900 and hope to be able to help him. Fuelling is the issue, I think after 2 years in garage that his carbs are gunked up. Interested to see if anyone agrees? Cheers Mick
In a Tiger 900 his carbs will be well gunked up and will most likely require a full strip and, preferably, ultrasonic clean. You'll likely find that the carbs will have a hard, light grey deposit on much of the internals - it's residual from the plastic tank being "dissolved" by ethanol based fuel. Ask me how I know this ........... By all means try the Lucas treatment - you have nothing to lose and everything to gain - but be prepared to be getting into a long haul on this one! p.s. my apologies - it was very rude of me to omit to say "Welcome"! So, uhmmmm ...... WELCOME!
Well! It's been a challenge but after 4 days, full car rebuild, new HT leads and plug replacement in addition to full service, new fuel hose and uprated fuel filter. The bike now has an MOT, rides like a dream oh and it may have a new owner too. Ahem, don't tell my Mrs just yet . . . Thanks for the pointers guys, the aspiring owner has realised his dream!
Speakeasy Mick. Welcome to the family as I think I missed this thread Great bike. Wonder who is the owner of it now. Ride Safe & Enjoy Joe.
