A few weeks ago we decided to have a big 'down sizing' exercise, got all my old biking gear, books, ornaments that people brought us back from holidays (why we want something to remember their holiday is beyond me!), so it we took it all off to various charity shops.
Now, while we are ther of course we had a look round in them, and got some real bargains!
First off a hand made full leather 3 piece suit, not a bit of uPVC or re-generated plastic bottles in site, in beautiful condition ............ for £250!!! Then a few weeks a I got a brand new winter foul weather coat that was £127 new on the makers web site..........for £3!!
Then then yesterday I found 2 brand new with tags on jeans, not Asda £6 a pair ones but some called NUDIE JEANS, (ay what?) one pair called TiGHT TERRY (how appropriate) for £4.50, and another pair identical in every way except black for £4.50!
Looked em' up on the web when I got home and nearly fell of my chair!
    First pair .............£110, second pair..............£185!!!!!
    I couldn't believe it!
Currently available on their web site, who the fuck pays that much for a pair of jeans?
O.k., they ain't made in Pakistan or India, they are Italian made from Turkish cloth and marketed fro Sweden, but bloody hell!
My neighbour said I should put them on eBay and make a few bob, but I'll keep them, wear them for a couple of years THEN put them on for about the £25 they are selling for now!
I can see where a lot of the eBay stuff comes from now, but I really couldn't be bothered.
Keep you eyes peeled for those charity shop bargains!
    Terry
p.s. I must be the only person who can make a pair of skinny fit jeans look baggy!

A mate of mines' son makes a living out of it while he is at Uni. Scours the charity shops then shoves them on ebay.
Theres money to be made for those that can be bothered.

I can spend time in different towns each week so I do always have a look around.
I think my favourite deal was an oil painting for 3 quid, and many other things besides.

You can get some good cd's from them too if you have time to often wade through the stacks of them, funny thing is they all seem to have at least 1 Susan Boyle cd!
Got a couple of Deff Leppard the other day.

Good example here, we were given a book on the history of dogs, had it a few years, it cost £25, took it to the Cancer support shop, they sold it for £3, we found it again yesterday in another town in DEbra shop for another £3!
We know its our book because it had an inscription on the fly page.

My wife is a huge fan of charity shops. I can't buy her anything new - she turns it down and says she'd rather buy from a charity shop. I suppose it's how I can afford two bikes. And my two favourite summer shirts are finds of hers for a couple of quid - brand new ones too.

I haven't got the patience for it. Need a jacket? Down to M&S (other stores are available), try one on, yeh that's fine, five minutes, job done!

    Yet I'm the tight-fisted Jock!

    Freecycle is good too.

Wanted to get rid of an old sofa, put it on Freecycle and got rid of it within 48 hours.

Once signed up, get notifications of what others in your area want to get rid of - seen loads of interesting stuff.

But as place already cluttered and off-loading sofa was to free up garage space for latest bike, have resisted getting more tat so far!

Whjen we lived in Bath Freecycle was great, got some really expensive items, and no problem when we put stuff on to go, also buying/selling on Gumtree was good, but up here both are a waste of time, get some right wankers on Gumtree who think its great fun to make appointments to buy/collect then 'the car wont go' etc, and sod all goes on Freecycle so sadly dont bother much with either now.
Lazy gits cant even sort out blue bins up her!
