Sorry to hear about your mates wife, he must be devistated... Riding in the rain can be fun as long as your kit can keep you dry.....
Thanks Wessa, I like the trip, but twisties through hills make me extra cautious in the wet so takes some of the shine off the journey. Stopped to add a layer of warmth half way to be sure I stayed dry and not cold
I spoke to a guy at HKS Refinishing who said they would paint plastic tanks. https://www.hksrefinishing.com/ I’m looking at getting my spare Daytona tank painted once I’ve got round to lining it. Their work looks very good, though I doubt it’d be the cheapest around.
Rode to my dealer with a friend and my lass on her first outting on her street triple, came off the A1 onto A184 with me leading, i noticed a dark thick line in the middle of the road approaching redheugh bridge.... the barrssstid was 1/2 mile of diesel, me and my mate knew what to do but my missus didn't, by the time she had time to react she was going sideways like a speedway rider..... how the feck she stayed on I'll never know but thank god she did, cos it would defiantly be a different post i was writing. Called the law and reported it, just hope it didn't catch anyone else out.
Phew!!! Well done all three of you. Sometimes you just HAVE to be lucky. So pleased that all ended well.
Got a second hand set of side covers from a Street Twin to tinker with. Will be putting them on my Street Cup. The originals will be wrapped up and stored in case I get bored and want to swap them out. I was kind of going for the look of the Thruxton covers. The paint is a texture black that is kind of close to the engine case finish.
Filled up with 11.6l in my 12l tank, close call. Good to see over 220km (nearly 140mile) to the tank of mixed riding.
Close call indeed. How long were you riding with it reading empty? My Speedmaster seems to read no fuel range after using up 10l, it would be reassuring to know that meant I still had over a litre of usable fuel remaining.
I must have pissed off all my biking mates - I emailed them all a few days ago and not one bothered to answer or respond to the question about a run out today. Just been Billy no mates on a run to Petersfield, Pulborough and back... Loads of others out in groups Boohoo
I set off with 2 bars, which I count as 2l each (6bars 12l), so thought I had more than enough to cross the hills. Fuel light was on, so I should have known first bar was nearly done, and this went after short distance. This would give your estimated remainder of 2-3l, with single bar, as this also went quite fast in the hills. Distance to next petrol stop 42km. I use each bar as 20km, so probably 10km/1l reserve.
Wee trip up to Aberdeen at the weekend with the Yes Bikers for some camping after the independence march! (If you don't like it, scroll past)
Getting in practice of sleeping in tents and living from the earth should the next independence referendum (or the one after that, or that, or that...) are successful?
