Hi guys! I'm looking at replacing the rear tyre on my 2010 Thunderbird 1600, I went down to my local bike tyre garage and they said they couldn't change it because the wheel has an inner ridge? They said only a Triumph dealer can change them but my nearest dealer is 75 miles away and with work commitments I don't have the time to spend half a day getting a tyre replaced. Is it right what they said or are they talking out of their rectum
went to another garage in the end and had an Avon Storm 3D XM fitted, had a look at the wheel with the tyre off and as I thought no ridge. I'll be calling round to tell them there's no ridge on the wheels so there won't be a problem when it needs replacing in the future, maybe then they'll come out with the truth and tell me they don't like doing Thunderbirds because it involves a bit more work than most bikes
Hi there BC, do you take your wheels off the bike, or do you ride to the tyre place and get them to do it? I normally take mine off at home for tyre changes as I prefer to do the reinstall myself - torque everything up correctly etc. I find I save money on the tyre fitting this way too.
I normally ride to the garage but in future I think I'll take the wheel off, should save around £40-£50
How much does it cost to fit a tyre over there !!!!!! Over here if I go with the bike it's 10€ per wheel inc digital balancing, if I take the wheel off it's only 7€ per wheel.
Well when I get mine changed the bloke gives me 50€ for each old tyre I leave with him ! (Tried to find a smiley with playing cards - but no joy)
Oh I forgot to say, as well as 50€ he usually throws in a case of Beaune, some Venison and a bottle of Hennessey.
Yes - and she's gorgeous Just don't tell Steve (Half Ton) - you know how he gets "my supplier throws in his daughter, his wife and his sister" And to think this all started off about tyres !!!
