Has anyone else thought that the cap flips up and gets in the way when you fill up with fuel? I found a couple of mentions out there and some useful photos (and a video that I couldn't find again) on how to spin it around the other way. So I did this and was feeling quite pleased with my first modification to the bike and it certainly improved access at the pumps. In case you want to know, there is a plastic locking ring that lifts out with the aid of a small screwdriver or something and then you can clearly see that a quick twist and the monza cap lifts away. It goes back on with no problems and the black plastic ring pokes back in to lock it in place. Anyway, I then read somewhere that a guy had asked Triumph why it flipped backwards. (It does get close to the handlebars when it flips forward but it clears ok when the bars are turned left as they most often are.) The answer was for a very good safety reason; in the event of a head-on crash, the cap can open and if you are a bloke and unlucky enough to move forward, up and over the tank it will scoop out the part of you that you'd rather not loose. So I have un-modified my fuel cap as I'm now prepared to work around the access issue.
never found it to be a problem to be honest im guessing your sitting on the bike and filling up at the same time. if your off the bike it shouldn't make any difference which way it flips up.
