Well two weeks have passed since my Darwin tour ! Last day of tour bike went thorough 3 litres of engine oil !! Did 450 klms on last day oil level was just below the low mark on days start up. Got from Geraldton to Gingin (350) oil light was coming on regularly, topped up with oil (nearly 1 ltr) did remaining 100 to Northam. Parked up for a few days , unpacking , shopping for groceries and wash all the gear and clothes.
Now time to service , assess and repair .. Oil and filter's were first ! Oil drained , measured only 1•6 Litre's came out !! And there was dirt on the inside of the air box !! Feck !! Looking like motor dusted or oil ring's screwed !

So . . . took bike for a LONG ride , went through road works ! Long slow running about 18/20 klms @ 1/2 walking pace ! Got very Hot but didn't pinch up , so stopped after getting up to speed and getting some airflow/cooling happening.

Good news :) :) put higher grade mineral oil in , instead of Fully Synthetic. Put A Big Dose of Mentholated Spirits in fuel tank before the long ride. Worked like a Snake Charmer ! No Oil used and plugs clean as a whistle ! Phew! Bike running fine ! Here is what I think happened ! Fully Synthetic couldn't handle the engine loads , bike and trailer combined weight 540kg plus (weigh bridge ticket) so bores glazed, putting Mentholated spirit in and mineral oil and high temperature deglazed bore's , now all good !

Spent this afternoon putting new plug's in and then washing polishing , took the trailer towing brackets off and put the short Foran mufflers back on. Took dual seat and front screen off, test ride tomorrow ! New tyre's will be on the to do list , rear was new before trip 11,300 odd klms on trip , now about 11,900 on her, front was 7 to 9 thousand , now about 20,000 and just about bald !!!

Will take a picture tomorrow before my ride and post it with picture taken mid tour, camp are them .

Ride to Darwin was Epic. Great weather 26/28°c most days and no rain until the last days of the six week trip.
Wife loved it and We are pretty sure there are pictures on many forums (Facebook etc) as bike was admired and photographed by strangers from all points of the globe who were travelling through WA and the NT !

So bike now has 127,000 or near enough , and is running Sweet as can be !

    Cheers Mick Brenda capt

I recon there was only 800 mls to 1•1 litres of oil in the engine , pulling 540+ KGS and doing 4,000 ish rpms (100 kph) for about "50" klms or so !

Triumph make a good Un Ehh :) :)

Picked Tallulah up from the garage, nice fat bill for servicing including valves, renewing iacv hoses( supplied by me), new clutch and throttle cables (also supplied by me) . Air box was in 3 pieces, needed gluing back together, air filter blown clean( filthy as fuck), brake fluid changed all round.
After a bad start when it kept cutting out due to too low tickover speed on way home, all seems good now after going back. Yippee she finally ticks over smoothly. Just got to go back next week to get the can sorted, one if the spring brackets has broken.
Oh the Joy's of an old bike

Where’s your registration plate? Are there lots of speed cameras around?

I reckon the problem is, the fact that you’re riding at the speed of light Andy

    In Karijini week two. IMG_20190717_120851.jpg
This morning, two weeks after our return, spent a few hours over the last week getting "capt" back into shape for the next 10 years :)

126,538 klms and still sweet to ride. Found the left rear suspension unit is leaking, so off to Ikon service incentre in Albury NSW for rebuild in a few weeks.

Still looking ok for ten years old. Chrome on mirrors and headers looking old but rest is ok.

    Cheers Mick Brenda capt

Not sure how to refer to a previous message, but this refers to image 12765 and the Bilt helmet.

Just logged on for a quick read and was scrolling through to find the newest entries when I suddenly thought I was on the bikes and babes page. Does anyone else see a pair of long legs and a chunky arse in he reflection of the visor. It must be all this sunshine and wishful thinking.

Im waiting for a front tyre from Oponeo, Bought a back one a couple of weeks ago, no problem. So I bought this on the 6/7/19
Phoned them just now (yesterday A.M. and it seems they have lost it, it hasnt been scanned since last week. They know it wasnt delivered, so, I think they will send out another.
I said, I will check later since they only noticed themselves yesterday, and are asking the courier whats up atm.
I dont need it just yet.
Phoned last night and the guy seems to think it will be here today, it would be nice to have it safe before I leave tomorrow.

Not legal but hey, if a pissed off copper stops you he’s going to find something, right?
