Er what’s going on, as said where’s Waspy.

Hang on,,,,the other week someone on here said they’d got a new bike in their garage and it turned out that the dealer had loaned him he bike.
Peeps on here had jumped to conclusions and thought he’d bought the bike :relieved:
So Nikki we don’t want to be caught out again is the V storm yours ;);)

It's a teeny, tiny, baby red wasp. A 250 VStrom
Super light and quite a nice little commuter. Not sure if it would be able to do my Arctic Circle adventure.
Easy to pick up when it falls on riders leg

And just to show I’m not a trickster like that Dilli and that other fella who comes from Cheshire, it is in deed a loaner whilst the real Waspy is getting a couple of jobs done.

I went to pick up Waspy this morning only to find out that the loose left side hand grip job hadn’t been done.:mad:

The top box repair (after one of the springs broke in Scotland) is being investigated by Suzuki who are trying to source new springs from Givi, otherwise it’ll have to be a new top box.

So I’m back riding the little red VStrom till Tuesday

I’m not a good trickster like some of you. Too damned honest.;);)

I do hope not. I survived Scotland which was a good confidence builder.
However please stand by your phone during my trip in case I need someone to lift the bike up off my foot

You know I still don’t quite understand what happened that day. I do remember the pain though (just like yesterday)

It's dirty. You need to wash it properly and repost the photo. We can then see the back end at least. I had a vn1500 trike once go over my foot while riding and yes you all know what I did. I begged two little pensioners to save me. They couldn't even move the thing then started telling me off. I was there well it seemed like days till a couple of car drivers pulled up behind. After laughing their heads of they assisted me. Put me out of action for a couple of months.

That little 250 looks like a very useful runaround. I'm looking for a low capacity bike for running around in Malta, and the vstrom is one of the ones I've been looking at, along with the Royal Enfield Himalayan. Let us know how it goes, Nikki!

I think for a holiday rental it would be perfect. Certainly enough power to get you most places but if you’re thinking of 2 up I’d look at a bigger bike.
Brakes are good enough and the handling seemed pretty good too. Setting off from traffic lights you certainly notice it’s only a 250, however if you rev it, it soon gets going and it’ll do the legal maximum no problems with a little bit to spare.
I can’t say myself what the fuel economy is but they are supposed to be super economical.
The little TFT screen seems to show all the info you need.
If I was looking to rent a small capacity bike, I’d be happy to rent one of these.
    Hope this helps

Thank you for the reply. We may have to go a little bigger then. Looking to buy rather than rent as we have a house out there so the bike would be living there for use whenever we are there and although some roads are good, some really aren't. The rental places out there mostly do scooters or 125s that are really too small for 2 up. It won't be going long distances, since nowhere is all that far away!

I’d try renting one out then. It might be suitable for what you want. If it isn’t then you’ve lost nothing.
I don’t know much about Malta, but if it’s hilly then a 400-650cc bike would probably be better for you. My 650 VStrom will do almost everything. It’s comfortable and performs really well and they’re pretty cheap to own and run.
The Royal Enfield might be a good bet. There’s a lady from the Netherlands who’s doing a massive trip on hers and it’s been very reliable (see Itchy Boots on YouTube)

I have had 3 V Stroms, possibly the most versatile adventure bike on the road, I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Found a couple of Noralee’s (Itchy Boots’) videos on youtube. What a remarkable young lady. Makes me think that the Enfield will cope with anything Maltese roads can throw at it.

Yes she is amazing and an inspiration to me. The country’s she’s been through on her solo trip takes some guts. She’s in Russia at the moment.
The Enfield seems to be very reliable and robust. The only thing she’s had to change was the clutch and tyres.

By the way the teeny tiny red wasp has gone from my garage and the super yellow wasp is back home again with borrowed top box (till Suzuki decide what they’re going to do with my old one).
The loose hand grip now fixed. Waspy is ready for his next trip to Germany in 3 weeks time.
