After several cancelled appointments due to weather and timing, I am finally making it to the dealer this afternoon to get the recall and first service performed. The rain finally stopped late last night, but we are in a cold spell and had to use heated gear this morning as I rode into Northern Virginia at 0430.

With light traffic at that ungodly hour, I am unaccustomed to doing 70-75 MPH with no windshield and cars wanting to run me over as I am not doing 90. I felt much less threatened at the same time yesterday morning in my SUV. Some of it maybe me not used to this bike at that speed, where as I am comfortable on the Road Glide at that speed, but I am upright behind a windshield and fairings. Next commute on the Bonnie I am taking the back roads!

As I neared the 500 mile mark on the odometer, I noticed the little wrench in the dash. Forgot about the maintenance minder light. Hopefully it will be an uneventful trip to the dealer after work and no more than 2 hrs to wait for them to finish it.

I was never a Harley owner but did have an 1100 VStar with a full windshield. I now have a Street Twin and have the Triumph long haul screen. It works quite well and I recommend it if you want some wind protection. I routinely do 70-80 MPH on the freeway here in Calif (along w/ everyone else) without issue.

Best of luck Zinc, always good to get that first service check done and dusted. Now for the free riding

Thanks BigCLM! I've been debating wind shields or flyscreens since I bought this Bonneville. The Long Haul Screen doesn't look bad at all. But I have my Road Glide for the interstates and touring. I may choose to keep the Bonneville shieldless as it is more my cruiser and around town bike. No firm decisions yet and your sweet looking silver/black Bonnie looks great. (So did your V-Star - Good bikes!)

If you decide to get a screen be careful about fly screens. They are really only for looks and don't offer any real wind protection. The long haul screen, while not being too big does work well in my opinion.

Is the Long Haul Windshield a quick detachable type? If so, I would jump on it to get more use out of the bike. Any other options for good, quick, detachable windshields?

No it is not a detachable type. But that did not bother me as I never take mine off. And I don't know of a specific good detachable screen. I'm sure there are some out there. My experience is that most after market screens, while they might work OK, don't look all that great.

Thanks. The Long Haul/Touring Screen from Triumph is pricey at $385 for the T120. But all reviews I have seen thus far are quite favorable and a fair bit better than the Marlin in coverage. The Dart Marlin is larger than a flyscreen and still gets pretty good reviews for a lot less coin. I might need a few stiff drinks to figure out what I am going to do. LOL

I've not found that when I used flyscreens on my Bandit 1200 and on my T100. To me they added to a comfortable cruising speed and were surprisingly effective without affecting the looks of the bikes too much.

Without screen my comfortable cruising speed was about 60 mph; with the flyscreen it went up to 75 mph.

I have to agree. I’ve got the larger of the two fly screens on my T120. It looks good and does deflect significantly.

Is this the Dart Marlin, or a triumph part? Thanks!
