Saw a camera van in an abnormal national speed limit spot about 3 mile from Squires the other week.
Smiled as I went passed in the motorhome then spent the next couple of miles distracted trying to work out the A road limit for motorhomes.
    Is it 60 in a 60?
    Or
    Is it 50 in a 60?

A mates work colleague got done 56 mph in a 60 limit :worried::sob:
Selby bypass is a 60 limit but as he was in a twin wheel transit style van it's subject to a 50 limit.

Speed limit for caravans, cars when towing, buses, coaches and HGVs is 50 on single carriageways, and 60 on dual carriageways and motorway.

You are correct sir but i was in a motorhome and despite the weight motorhomes are the same as a car.
60mph on single carriageway national speed limit. Now a twin wheel transit would be as you say, 50.

Warning other people there is a speed camera is against the law. Everyone does it but it only takes a grumpy Cop to nab you. 99% of copper don't bother. Apparently, you can get up to 6 points for doing so.
Most in the Chichester area don't work because they don't have the money to run them.

The speed limit for motorhomes is dependant upon the kerb weight of the vehicle. Provided it is registered as a motorhome then if the kerb weight does not exceed 3050 Kg then it is car speeds and if above van speed ie 50 on a single carriageway National Speed limit, 60 on a dual carriageway and 70 on a motorway.

Regarding warning other drivers, some have been prosecuted some time ago but I recall reading an article stating that as the Police cannot assume that you are warning other drivers, as opposed to simply saying hello, then case law suggests that you will no longer be prosecuted for this. I am not a Solicitor and may be wrong but I would certainly argue that I wasn't in fact alerting other motorists but come up with another reason

Kerb weight on my motorhome is 10,200 kg in the states I could drive it 75 mph on the motorways but choose to run 65-70 to keep fuel mileage reasonable.

All fixed cameras are switched off in our fine county, and the police will nick you doing 1mph over the limit in their mobile wagons.

The police target biker meets all the time. The Raven at Whitchurch is popular and you can assume a speed van on approach on Thursdays and Sundays on a regular basis......

In my experience the speed vans can log your speed if you are in the opposite carriageway going away from the camera. Beware.

Thursday night meets at the Raven,,,your more likely to get a ticket for numerous traffic infringements by the unmarked police bikes that patrol the area than a NIP by a speed van.
On a Sunday the speed van is usually parked in the same place on the A41, only seen it there once this year, unless it’s there later in the day.

Yep that is true, forgot about them, I'm sure it is the same at all large bike meets.
