Halfway through putting in a set of Arias HC pistons and a set of 790 cams into my 865 Speedmaster. Stripped it yesterday time for rebuild today hope to be up and running Monday, as long as it don't need too many shims?
Got out early and took the coast road out past Brighton, up to cowfold, then back along the A272 and home down the A24. Lots of bikes out, think I may have passed @BS1948 coming over the bridge back into ferring?
Been a few eff ups but will reveal later just finishing another cuppa!! Hoping to hook Dilligaf with the suspense
Everywhere was closed! Went to Midhurst, Cowdry Estate Cafe - closed as were the two cafes in town. Ended up in Costa coffee... Nice ride though back road routes - some fabulous views and houses. Edit: it was Tigger’s third birthday today so he got a bath, polish, oil top up and a chain lube. Off for another run out with Eeyore, Piglet and Roo tomorrow - with the weather so nice, it would be rude not to make the most of it!
Ignored it because I'm on standby, didn't even look at it. Just chopped shit down in the garden out of frustration
Still working on the rebuild; God why wasn't Man designed with 3 hands? More problems to report at end, should be ready tomorrow afternoon if nothing else goes wrong
Bleed the front brake, cos it felt a little soft yesterday, I got a load of tiny micro bubbles at the lever, sorted now. Cleaned and oiled the chain with gear oil and found a build up of gunk behind the chain guard.
So me and a mate "planned" a full day out on the bikes today. Met up early at Squires and a few others obviously had the same idea.
Quick coffee a piece and a discussion on vague destinations and we're off. Fuel stop at Tadcaster and through the lanes via Boroughbridge and Ripon to the Manor farm cafe outside Leyburn for breakfast.
From here we went via Richmond crossing the A66. The lanes were great with some nice bends, odd wheelies, despite traction control and a few jumps. A lovely little tea stop that does nice food beckoned in Middleton in Teesdale.
The run from the tea stop over the top to Stanhope is good. Grippy roads, long distance views and some nice bends means it has something for everyone.
A quick discussion and we didn't fancy the A65 so went the long way. Passed the entrance to the Barbon hill climb (on in a few weeks) and via Dent to Ribblehead viaduct.
Tummy rumbling meant fish and chips at Settle was next stop. Had a nice little play with a BMW 1000 and a GSXR 600. With a very convoluted way through the lanes some 12 hours and 300 miles later we called in for a last can of pop at Squires before dark. Despite the attraction of BBQs and beer there were still a few people here but SWMBO and a couple of cans of Fosters were calling so with a dark visor on end of play was called.
That 765 is just great. My mate used to often change bikes but absolutely loves his 675 and has had it five years. He kept telling me to get one but something said no. I find the 765 is just so much more refined and them brakes are superb. They both really do punch above their weight: a BMW S1000r naked didn't know what to do when he was quickly caught by us both and we just sat with him
Ooh ..... nice Goldie! Did about 140 miles t'other day (Friday) across to Driffield and back via Kilham, Sledmere, Stamford Bridge, Tadcaster and Church Fenton (just in time to miss the passage of a steam loco on its way to York ready for a run to Edinburgh next day - 60009 Union of South Africa since you ask). I was totally knackered when I got home. Don't know if it is old age, the tablets I'm on, the heat or a combination of all three, but it was bloody frustrating!!Or maybe I'm just out of practice. Nice to know you had a good day out though, Eldon. Excellent!
