I’ve seen them heavily criticised by quite a few people. As well as the Kreiga bags there is also a company that does really cool waxed cotton/leather called ‘Pack Animal’ these look really cool. Realatively pricey but isn’t everything. They are based in the states so probably get hit with customs tax also so I guess that would have to enter the equation.
I also went for the SW Mores Legends. Have been two up to Devon and Southern Normandy. It pissed down in Devon but everything was dry. I also bought a small pair of throw over leather panniers for every day use. I made a couple of thin panels that fit on the Motec frames to give them something to rest against, I fit them under the seat, cheep as chips but work well. A plastic bag keeps everything in them dry ! Great roads in Normandy, have a good time.
Will continue to use mine til they fall apart, but now I've got my comfort seat I can mount my Kreiga 20litre & 10 litre bags on the seat behind me as well, 100% waterproof, almost bullet proof. So now more than enough room for my pants
Hi Curly, I’m just about to pull the trigger on the Kreiga duo 28, can you tell me, are you still happy with the bags and is it also possible to either mount them directly to the pannier rail( i.e. not over the seat), or even under the seat as oppose to over?
Avoid the Triumph waxed panniers. Overpriced and rubbish functionality. Even the ‘water proof’ covers which you have to pay extra for leak. I inherited mine when I bought the bike.
I have a set of Nelson RIgg adventure bags with a set of pannier racks from Ebay. Great bags - I can confirm they are waterproof!!! Great price compared to other well known equivalent makes (K????? / SW.M for example). Great systems for opening/closing/compression. Very secure at speed. Big enough for plenty of luggage - cooking, sleeping, washing, spare clothes etc for a week-long camping trip. The tent was strapped on-top of the seat Highly recommended. They may not look as pretty as the SW.M's but in reality, how often are the panniers going to be on the bike? And, I quite like the more functional look.
I have the Triumph waxed cotton paniers on my Street Twin. Look good, work well, good quality. But some say it is not good in the rain. But for me it is not a problem as it rarely rains in California. Basically once we hit March, zero rain until November.
Hi Goonergoose, just seen your post. Yes, I'm more than happy with the bags. I believe that it is possible to use the bags as single units rather than as a pair, but can't confirm this right now. If that is the case then fixing just to the pannier rail would be the only way to mount it? I also think it is possible to have the strap connecting the 2 panniers under the seat rather than across the top of it? I always have mine over the seat and the wife has never commented on any discomfort from this. I will search out the fixing instructions later and see what the options are and get back to you if you want?
These are what I bought for the T120, very nice all round. Did think they are a little small at first but adjusted to them now. One issue although minor is the centre strap, very difficult to adjust, doesn't pull down like the end straps.
Here are the factory fitting instructions, as I said a bit of a fiddle at first but the more you use them, as the saying goes..... Sorry, in the wrong order
Thank you Curly appreciated. Would you believe my set of Krieger duo 28, arrived this afternoon! They look good and great quality, I have a little voice in my mind saying “are they big enough“ I have a week long motorcycle trip to Ireland coming up. The intention is to travel light and I’m not taking a pillion and so I’m sure they will be fine. My pannier rails arrived last week but,they are not on the bike yet and so I’m looking forward to seeing what they look like With the luggage attached! Thanks again for your input.

Hello all, I'm new to the forum, but I just installed a pair of Longride saddlebags (www.longride.com) and I think they look awesome! Heavy duty waxed canvas and leather. They are very similar to the Pack Animal saddlebags. Unfortunately, Pack Animal just went out of business and these were the closest I could find. The craftsmanship on the Longride is really top notch and I do think they are going to last a very long time and age very well..
Hi Espanolito, firstly welcome to the forum. For the last couple of years I have been looking and loving the bags from ‘pack animal’ So I was sad to see they had finished. I then came across longride also, they also look fabulous, they really look great on your Bonnie! I think they look the best out there. I have no doubts at all about the quality. The choice of colours is great to, very cool! The only negative I’ve been wrestling with was the price. Of course that’s always a subjective thing, and the fact they wasn’t completely waterproof so the need for liners. Living in England and it seemingly always pissing down I thought I’d have to get these. I also hadn’t got pannier rails yet. So all in all it was the price that stopped me. I have the T120 Black so I wanted black rails, so I did get the rails from ‘Longride’. They look great, although sat in my garage at the moment, i hope to put them on next week. So in the end I compromised, doesn’t everyone just hate a compromise . I did this because they will not be living on the bike just for trips out. This week I pulled the trigger on a set of ‘Kreiga duo 28’, I think they also look good on the Bonnie. I’ll post a pic also when I get them mounted. These are also great quality and 100%waterproof. I have a road trip to Ireland the end of June. I’ve only heard positive things about Kreiga kit so looking forward to checking them out in action! I know, the price was very much 'YIKES!' But I pulled the trigger, albeit nervously due to the price. But, now that I have them, I do very much like them. I did end up getting the liners to completely waterproof the bags. The Kreiga Duo 28 are great looking bags! And, I think, have more capacity than my Longride bags, which are just 17L each. I do, however, use them for my daily commute to work so will hopefully get my money's worth out them. But indeed - price - YIKES...
I can’t fault youthey look fantastic, if I used them more I would of also. Even now I remember seeing the pack animal ones and thinking ‘oh yes’yours look equally as nice. There’s a lot to be said for if you like, get them. Sod the price!
I have a set of the waxed cotton Burley Bags. Well made but I cannot yet attest to their waterproof capacity. (Stuart Fillington says they don't leak) They look great on the Bonny. Kind of fiddly to open and close. They don't have a lot of capacity but OK for a few nights. I also have a set of the Nelson-Riggs throw overs. I CAN attest to their waterproof nature and they carry more. I use these for camping trips as they hold more. Pretty well made for the price point. I have an older version on my old KLR I keep in Oregon. They've been beat up pretty well and still function great. The new version is more robust/better made though a bit more money.
