I did have my Mk1 set up as a Speed Triple challenge bike and ran it at a few meets and a couple of Hill climbs

Good morning RRR - a very warm welcome to the forum from another Mk 1. owner. What Ron Ashurst fails - with impressive modesty - to mention is that I bought my bike just over a year ago pretty much in the state it's in, whilst Ron rescued his from under a tree in a very ratty looking scrapyard (salvage yard) and he's worked damned hard to resurrect it from what was fast becoming terminal decline! Even more impressive is the fact that he wasn't even aware of what a Speed Triple was! He is now, though. :)

I've wanted a Mk. 1 from the moment I saw that original brochure picture in around '94 with the Rottweiler, but I'd never really had all the stars in alignment long enough to find the right example at the right price and the right time. Until last year. In a weirdly ironic twist, my bike was originally exported to the US (it still doesn't have a light switch control, though I've bought a used switch set to put on and just hope the loom is universal!) but was repatriated by an Englishman working over there.

Anyway, enough of my sh1t! I'll try to add a pic. Meantime, keep it sunny side up, stay safe and enjoy that wee beastie .... and the best Triumph forum on the net. Slainte.

It’s great to see more MK1s . I have owned mine for about 10 years. I saw it on the Isle Of Man and knew it would be coming home with me....

You have done a great job restoring your bike Ron. Is there a thread on its restoration?
