Hi folks. After some serious thought, reading and testing, which you can read about in my blog - see link below, I am trading in my BMW R1150RT for a 2012 Trophy on Thursday.
Looking forward to it enormously, particularly the smooth engine and gearbox which is a real contrast to the agricultural Beemer.

    Welcome and great choice.

I had a 1200RT for two years, the only thing I can say good about it is that it was very comfortable.

You will love the bike especially the engine.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. I am collecting the trophy from Pidocks in Long Eaton this afternoon. I like my R1150RT, but I was less impressed with the 1200 version. I expected it to be a lot smoother, but it wasn't, and unlike ColLamb, I didn't find it as comfortable. I am tall - 6-4 - and found that the r1200rt seemed to be built for shorter riders, I wasn't comfortable with the angle of my knees and it caused some gearchange problems. I thought I might be riding one with the low seat option, but the salesman assured me it was standard. By contrast I found the Trophy riding position excellent.
I have written in more detail about my comparative views on the two bikes in my blog see below.

Got my Trophy as planned, and enjoyed (is that possible??) my 60 mile return up the M1

I still have to make time to read the manuals and get the bike set up as I wanted, but so far so good.....
