Hi i found 2007 bonneville t100 4k miles. Been sitting years outside. Tank inside outside rusty. Chain rusty. And the rest are on the pictures.. Is it good deal for 1000?

Obviously it needs sorting but it makes a great project at that price. I'd be tempted if I wanted something to tinker with.

    I'd have it for $1000!
What a shame that bikes are neglected like this.
Some of that surface rust on the chrome will clean up nicely with nothing more than tin foil and water rubbed over it but the wheels look to be seriously pitted. Carbs will be gummed up inside with old fuel but might be salvageable.
New (second hand) tank, new chain, new tyres, new fluids, new battery?

Hello Quarkw and welcome to the forum :)

What do you want the bike for, a cheap runaround or a show pony.

How much time do you have on your hands/tools/skill to fix the problems and how big is your wallet.

Would it be a long term project or would you want it on the road ASAP.

I’d be cautious, the engine may be goosed that’s why it was left (dumped) outside and forgotten.
In addition to the list of problems you will have to rectify are the front forks which will need a full strip down and the fork stanchions will need rechroming and hard grinding and then rebuilding with new seals etc.
Do the brakes stick on when applied and you try to push the bike, I’d want to strip them for peace of mind.

I’m sure others will identify further potential problems.

Good luck if you decide to buy her :)

I would go for it. I would bid the owner $750 for it - gives you $250 for free, enough for a new chain and sprockets kit - and pick up the rest 2nd hand off Ebay or Craig list.

As you're going to need to replace some bits you would have the opportunity to restyle her some and make her YOUR Bonny.

I'd have to agree that she would be a good project. I see you already have plenty of good advice so I won't add my two cents. Best of luck!

Welcome to the Family. And definitely. But I am nuts. Try haggling. Like the chaps said terrific project. And even if you ended up selling as spares you would still make you money back. Keep us all in the know.

If you buy the bike then start a thread in the Builds & Projects section of the forum and with plenty of pictures for those on here that struggle with their reading :grinning:

Just a quick observation but that is a vanilla Bonneville, not a T100. The lack of a tacho is an immediate giveaway apart from paint job and pipes.
It should clean up pretty well. A $100 3 litre ultrasonic bath will restore those carburettors. Just unscrew the float bowls and slides first to allow access all areas......and throw in some solution to de-oxidise things.

I wouldn’t buy it, any bike that’s been left outside will have seriously deteriorated, even small OEM parts are expensive and you’ll end up spending a small fortune putting it back together and spending more money than just starting off with a decent clean, proper garaged bike.

    IMO not worth the agro

Welcome Quark. I'd turn up with $500 and take it or leave it at that. Very little is going to salvageable to dispose of through Ebay so it's otherwise worthless to the seller. And if no-one else wants it it's worth exactly what you offer.

    Great project buy it.
Just think zx10 or whatever front end so decent forks and Brembo brakes, styled to suit your preference.
As I mentioned on here previously that T100 with zx6 forks (or something) in the isle of man really stood out as a classic bike with modern touches. This would be the ideal base for such a project if you have the skill, time and space.
