Why do people relocate their ignition switch ?

Because the std location on a Bonny is not very convenient. Why else?

Having not lived with a Bonnie yet I didn't know. Is the standard location that bad then?

Or the latest variant I saw recently, was a new lay-flat clocks (speedo/rev counter) plate which can also accomodate the ignition switch, so it puts your keys right in front of you.

That's the version I'll be having when it becomes available and if it's not tooooooooo heavy money.

Ignition switch position is not very convenient with stock indicators especially if you have a combined key/alarm fob - not enough room to get the key out. I went for a relocation bracket on the RH side for this reason but actually didn't like using that either. Have now replaced the stock indiacatoprs so no longer a problem.
The lay-flat clockes with central ignition switch look fantastic but are no good for older bikes like mine as there is no where to put the idiot lights.

Apparently a company called Motone UK are developing a lay-flat plate for clocks with or without idiot lights?

I have to say that so far I quite like the standard location of the ignition switch. In one swift move, I place the bike on the side stand, and then pull the key out with my left hand while unmounting the bike, even with the stock indicators. Maybe being left-handed has something to do with it? In any case, I'd say give it a go before changing the location.

After only two days I'm hating the standard location so I'm going to look at the options asap
