Still just a kid, here's a couple of pics..this didn't end up as a crash it's just one of his regular saves
Just watched the Grammy awards this morning and noticed how Shawn Mendes has a striking resemblance to Marc
A very talented young man. I hope he can survive the dangers and pressure of being at the top of his game..... Wessa
Belated Birthday Greeting MM93 First world championship was in 2010 and going for his 8 world title this year 2019, that’s some record. He revels in the pressure and nothing seems to faze him.
It's quite possible he will beat Agostinis record of 15 world titles (although Ago won the 350cc and the 500cc titles in the same year 7 years in a row on the MV Agusta) which I have been told was by far the best bike at the time,(I'm too young to remember!) Marc also has a good chance of beating the most GP wins of 122 (Agostini again)
You were told correctly Dougie. One of the reasons why Ago won so many GP’s and world titles was because he was definitely on far better machinery in the later part of the 1960’s Most of the opposition comprised of British singles, overboard Yamaha 350’s (500cc class) and the odd European which weren’t up to the MV in terms of speed or reliability. Ago had the best package, but still a good rider.
He also won 10 TT wins so fair play to him. Rossi might actually beat Agostinis GP win total of 122 as he is currently sitting on 115 so he just needs another 8 wins, but unless Marquez and Lorenzo & Co have some bad luck it might be asking a bit much.. but anything is possible. I think that 10th title and beating Agos record GP wins is what keeps him motivated.
I think it’s a big ask those 8 GP wins unless as you say Dougie the opposition has bad luck or Yamaha have made their bikes pick their skirts up and are vastly improved. Time will tell.
Been a Rossi fan since I saw him as a teenager on the 125s. Always thought he would get Ago's records but at times he seemed to panic ie Haydens title win, and although still one of the all time greats, he is definitely going to be eclipsed by Marquez, who WILL break all records. There are too many young guns out there now for Rossi to beat and they all want his scalp, especially the riders he has nurtured. He may never win again but there will never be another Rossi , he has made motogp what it is today. Unless of course Bad Billy gets onto a motogp bike.
