Hi My name is Howard. I am just about to purchase a 2006 T100 Bonniville . It has only 8400 klms on the clock so looks and sounds new. I'm an old rocker from many years ago and used to ride a 1976 Tiger which I bought with me to Australia in 1982. Sold it due to normal family pressures. Have recently reconnected with my son (after 25 years) who is still a keen motorcyclist and he has inspired me to buy another bike. My son has several bikes nowadays both in the UK and here is Australia (mind you all Japanese of course) But I wanted a traditional bike so searched and found this gem. It has been taken for a test run to find a couple of problems. 1 the tachometer does not seem to work. (the forum seems to think this is a typical problem) 2 it is a carburettor model not fuel injected and they appear to be leaking fuel on to the top of the crankcase Other than that is looks and sounds near perfect. Any suggestion on fixing ? Cheers
Hi and welcome.. I would post your tech questions in the technical section thread, you will likely get better coverage from there.. Wessa
The tacho - run a small black wire (for invisibility) with a piggy back terminal from the coil (either terminal) to the instrument red wire terminal. If the tacho then works you know it is the igniter output but don’t worry. If it does not work then double check the tacho earth failing which the tacho itself is u/s. Fuel leaks? Replace all you fuel hoses. Sounds like they are time expired. I would take the opportunity to check the float bowls for crud and clean the inline filter inside the T piece that feeds both carbs.
Howardyoube Welcome to the Family. I am of my Rocker is that similar. You know we will want a picture of the Steed. Helps Nursey medicate us. Ride Safe Joe.
