Ok, fellas. I've come to realize that there are differences in the way we use words and their meanings. There are some idioms that I see on here from time to time, that I really don't understand. Do you guys mind clarifying here? In turn, if there's something in American English that you don't understand, please ask.

As an example, I wrote in a previous post, "I'm your Huckleberry". @Bikerman asked if he should be worried. All that means is, "I'm game" or "I'm ready".:)

My question for y'all is, what is the deal with "Bollocks"?

Bollocks is an expression of varying meaning and intensity depending on context. The Dog’s bollocks is like the coyotes cojones but ‘Bollocks’ is an expression of annoyance, frustration, rejection....

One of the problems, spelling apart, is that language naturally changes but the influx of non-native speakers in the US has accelerated the process. Americans - to our ears - verbalise a lot.......meaning you use unnecessarily complex words for simple ideas and get it wrong! Momentarily does not mean ‘soon’ it means ‘briefly’ or ‘fleetingly’ but now MS controls dictionary and thesaurus use you have bolloxed everything!

We don’t verbalise. We speak :(;)

I'm not (thankfully) from London but I would be game for adding the odd Cockney Rhyming Slang phrase into my posts if it will confuse and amuse in equal measures? As I have worked many years for large US-based IT corporates it was always entertaining to drop in the odd bit of rhyming slang to conference calls and see how long it took for one of my US colleagues to ask what the heck I was on about. Once we were on good terms of course - never did it in spite and they by then knew I had a slightly odd sense of humour.

Don't worry KTT, you can get phrase books for CRS - they're very similar to Jeff Foxworthy's "How to speak redneck" books.

Ok, thank you for the answers, I think I get the bollocks thing a little...but, I had that Sex Pistols album when I was a kid, and I didn’t understand why you should never mind the bollocks...and I still don’t :joy: Oh, and what is “nudger to bollocks”? I saw that on a post here.

Whilst living in the US, I saw a lot of women doing “fanny” tightening exercises.
    Enjoyed it too.
