    Hi everyone,

New to the forum and to speed triple ownership. Just picked up my 17 speed triple last week. Absolutly Chuffed :)

However, help needed! The previous owner has removed the red fairing side decals to the bike and I want to put them back on which apparently involves removing the indicators and screwing them back on. Just wondering how to remove the wiring to the indicators? Do they simply pull out at the rubber bung where the wire attaches to the indicator? Or is there a connection elsewhere?

    Thanks

Follow the wire for about 20-30cm and you will find a bullet connector for each wire
Twist 90 degree and pull apart
You should be able to just pull the wire gently to find the copnnectors

The red fairing should slide into a clip that holds it in position at the front (above the radiator)
Without this the fairings would be lose and rattle

The fairing itself would slide towards the front of the bike

Absolutly fantastic! Thank you very much for the information and your help! Both sides now fitted and done! The bike looks a million times better! :)

Pick your best brains again please Redthunder, I've ordered an Arrow low boy 3-1 exhaust system. Is it do able by someone who is handy enough or best left for the dealer to fit?

    Thanks again!!!

If it is the full system with down pipes I would give that to the dealer/garage to install as it would probably involve removing the radiator etc.
If it is the silencer only, you should be able to do this yourself, unbolt the existing cans from under the seat, remove the retainer springs and then the screw clip thing that is located towards the back of the heat shield.

A couple of things I would recommend is a Scottoiler and paddock stand for the rear wheel
If you are flush with cash then an Abba Skylift would make working on the bike a lot easier

Don't forget to get the ECU updated with the low boy map otherwise the mixture may be too lean and not run smooth

Yeah it’s an entire exhaust system with down pipes and headers to fit! Looks quite a big job! Might give it to the dealer to do then when it’s due it’s first annuel service next month! Hopefully they won’t charge an arm and a leg to install it! :/

Funny you should say, I’ve just purchased a second hand abba Stand! Should make life a lot easier! Are those scottoiler worth it? Does it totally elimate the need for chain lube forever. Because I was looking into them, but there are mixed reviews.

    Thanks again!

I believe the Scottoilers are worth it, for the £100 outlay plus oil cost, the convenience is worth it.
The chain would still need a clean now and again just to get rid of the built up grime, but so long as you keep the oil topped up it should keep a nice layer of oil on the chain, as it is a lighter oil it doesn't fling off and stick to the wheel or chain guard as bad, don't get me wrong, it still happens, but it is a lot easier to clean up.
When you get the drip rate right you can just leave it on for a few hundred miles.
It is a helluva lot better than propping up the back wheel, cleaning the chain and then spraying it with sticky oil that also attracts a lot of road grime.

On the 2016/17 R it can only take the single nozzle/nipple thing, Scottoiler do a double nozzle but this wont fit :(
If you do get a V(vacuum) Scottoiler, let me know as I fitted mine, the vacuum pipe needs to fit to a certain pipe and it is a bit of a fiddle to do.

The alternative to a Scottoiler was a Lubeman...yes that is a real thing, from what I saw I think it is a manually operated system that still drips oil onto the chain, but is a lot cheaper

Sounds like a worth while investment then the scottoiler. Thanks for informing me that the double nozzle doesn't fit as that would have been the one I would have ordered with the system. I'm sure the single nozzle works admirably enough though. I'll let you know in if I buy one...as i'll need your your guidance in the fitting, no doubt!

Thanks again for your help :)

    No probs.
I had the double nozzle on my 2010 Speed Triple but the chain guard is a different shape on the 2016 and it won't fit.
The single nozzle works okay, not as good as the double but better than sprays and cleaners.
