Hello all, I used to ride bikes in my teens, and well into my late 20's. My last bike was a Honda 400-4. This was in the days when you could ride any size bike on L plates. I then met the wife... I am now 57 years young, and recently took my bike test, and passed. I am a bit vertically challenged (short arse) and was looking for low seat height bikes. I looked at the Honda 500 Rebel, but was not that impressed. I then looked at the Triumph Street Twin and decided it was for me. My riding style has changed somewhat from my 20's. I am not interested in thrashing the bike and pushing the limits. I have only done 400 miles on the Street Twin, as the weather has not been my idea of motorcycle weather. I am loving it though. I live in Douglas, Isle of Man, so a few laps of the TT course under my belt. I am thinking of travelling a bit on the bike. No long mileages per day, but I could be off the Isle of Man for 2 weeks at a time. Mainly Scotland, maybe Nothern Spain, when I am used to the bike. The only mods I have done up to now are heated grips, and a centre stand. I am now looking for luggage options. Not something I have had on a bike before. Any ideas, please? Robbie
Rab Welcome to the Family. Great bike and greater place to ride it. Its a good choice of bike and we will all want a picture soon to keep the inmates happy while Nursey prepares the meds. There is lots of options out there for luggage. You just have to decide how much space and what you will be carrying in them. Ride Safe Joe.
Welcome to the madhouse you should fit right in. To keep the inmates happy we will need photos Tucker
hi .ill be staying in Douglas come tt week towards top end of sea front by Tee shirt shop if you see me on my speedy come and say hi
Hi from Norfolk , I also ride a Street Twin and am vertically challenged like you, great bike I have been to the Island many times, had our honeymoon over there in 1972, great place to live if you don’t mind being insular, at least, that’s what my late brother used to say, he live there for 27 years.
Hello Rab and welcome to the forum I get over to the IOM at least twice a year sometimes 3 times per year. This year I’m over for the Southern100 International in July and the ClassicTT/MGP in August, stopping at the Falcon Nest, Port Erin. If you decide to go to Northern Spain I’m sure you’ll enjoy, I love the place
Welcome from sunny California. I also have a Street Twin with a few adds. Mainly the long haul screen (works well), waxed cotton paniers and luggage rack. Here's mine.
Welcome aboard Robbie, from another member who turned 57 last week, hope you enjoy the forum and have fun on your new steed, take it easy until you've got acquainted with each other and being out on two wheels ago, I definitely need to see the TT before much longer.
Welcome from a fellow newbie! I myself have strong ties with the Isle of Man, my late grandfather was the chief constable of the island “frank weedon” who lived in St. John’s, so my mum grew up on the island. I live in the north of Scotland and some of the bike routes here is amazing. All the best and safe riding out there! If you get a chance check out my new YouTube channel Regards Dave
