I had the unfortunate need to call triumph assist last Thursday evening. Approximately 19.30 called them as I needed recovery home from near Greenwich, london.

Absolutely terrible service. Originally told I would be seen within 14 minutes, which I knew was too good to be true, as I was in a dangerous position. Sure enough phoned me back after 10 minutes that they (RAC which what triumph assist is ) did not have a suitable vehicle for a motorbike and that a ‘partner’ ( ie any local outfit) would be recovering me and the bike. A recovery garage then texted me 30 mins later saying that they would be with me between 6 to 7 hours.

What Is the point of triumph assist using the RAC if they don’t have any suitable recovery vehicles. I appreciate that there might be a bit of a delay if in the middle of no where but in London !!!!

Every hour I kept on calling triumph assist to see if there was any other faster alternative.

After nearly 5 hours of waiting after the initial call an alternative recovery service arrived with triumph assist no where to be seen.

From my experience don’t pin any hopes on triumph assist.!!

My boss was out in a company car, which got a puncture, no spare, and the hole was too big for spray inflate stuff , so he waited for RAC ,for 6 hours, they took him from 2 miles outside Peterhead ,40 miles to a garage in Aberdeen, which, it turns out didnt have a tyre, to another garage in Aberdeen which didnt have a fitter, so they took the tyre back, to the fitter, and eventually then drove 50 miles home, 11hours 30 minutes later.
All he needed was a lift 2 miles wait and take him back 1 hour tops.

I had a similar problem with Triumph assist on my 675 , turned out to be my fault power commander plug not connected properly.
I thought it try Green Flag who my cars are with, they recovered the bike and me in under two hours

My only experience was when my alarm immobilised the bike (one of the faulty ones). I explained to the lady what it was and that there was no point getting a man out to try and start it just get it recovered back to the dealer but no she insisted that the system was a man comes out and tries to start it then calls recovery when it all fails!!

Luckily, a guy with some sense picked the job up, he called me and after a chat concluded there was no point trying to get it started and sent a recovery vehicle straight away :)

If it were not for the switched on mechanic, I would have wasted more time having the bike checked then waiting for recovery!

I had a puncture in my car this weekend- 10:30 am no spare etc hole in side?? . I am with GEM which cover the driver for any vehicle including my bikes and also cover recovery if you have a crash, which many don't. local company came in about 30 mins and took me where I needed to go - really nice good service. So I will call GEM not Triumph Assist(not) My RS lets me down.
Worth the 100 quid annual fee for peace of mind.

Called them at 6pm on a Sunday evening few weeks ago for a puncture, said they would be with me in 3 to 4 hours, they turned up at 1pm on Monday after lots of calls. They couldn’t do anything as it has a tube, is a T100, and would have to call tow truck to take me to local garage. Tow truck turned up Tuesday morning at 10:30, took the bike for a 15 min drive to local garage who repaired it in an hour, spoke to a mate who said he experienced similar and now only uses SOS.

Triumph Assist sounds even worse than the service RAC give to car drivers ! ... recommendations on a recovery service from those who unfortunately have needed one for their bike would be really useful as I’m now going to switch from the RAC at renewal... Wonder if Triumph know they are funding an inadequate service to their new bike purchasers?... presumably they pay for it or is it an RAC ‘lost leader’ to drum up business at the end of the free year,

I can vouch for GEM - but my bike has not broken down yet.
My dealer kindly collected my bike from home when I had trouble. (Can't fault Woods of Abergele for customer service). GEM do get good reviews in general. And cover you in the event of an accident too. I chose them based on this.
