Morning all, After nearly going squared eyed at the bloody PC screen trolling through tyre upon tyre , thought I would throw this out to you guys and girls.. I have a 1050 Speed Triple94R.. Love the bike more than anything, anyhow have SuperCorsa's at present any recon's on good tyres for speed / cornering and not getting screwed up in the sudden down pours.... Cheers......
Hi Andy, If you ride mainly in good weather and enjoy a spirited ride then SC's as they are great if a little quick to wear out, a lot of guys who like SC's but want a little more life out of their tyres choose Rosso 3's. As you have said there is a lot of choice out there, there will be a shed load of views on here but it is a personal choice, but if you like how the bike feels on the current rubber why change?
Hi Andy, as Billy said there will be many people with differing views on tyre choices. Although I have no experience on your bike I am firmly in the Bridgestone T30 camp. Used them on both of my Aprilias, they are well planted in both wet and dry and are a great compromise between performance and wear, and if they are good enough for Ron Haslam Race School bikes then that works for me
Before I bought my 765 rs I knew the tyres (diablo super corsas) would be changed. After first service, 515 miles, tyres off and the ones I've been using for the last five years or so fitted. Michelin pilot powers, ok so 2ct and all that might wear better but these have proved good enough, wet or dry, and the wear is what it is: accept it. Others will choose xyz etc. As at the end of the day confidence is key, pick what suits you but as you ask the question I suggest you choose something else to boost your wet confidence.
But seriously, best wet weather and all-round tyres imho, are either Michelin PR5 or Pirelli Angel GT. Ran the GT's on my Gixxer and loved them, running the PR5 on my Tuono currently. The Michelin RS is also excellent, but rear only lasted 1500 on the Tuono, but big V-twins are not kind to rear tyres. Was surprised how well they worked in damp conditions. In the dry they are unreal level of grip and feedback. Front is still going strong.
Andy Martin. Welcome to the Family. Tyres are a great topic here and you will get your head spinning before you choose. But I will go along with Helmut Visor. Get along to a race school like Ron Haslam's get the bike set up for you. You won't believe how different and secure it will make it. Ride Safe Joe
Good choice Andy, I’ve got them on mine and the rear has lasted 7000 miles, been to Spain last year and Belgium this year and the rear is about done now, not too square but enough to compromise the steering a bit. Gonna try just the rear first but if I have to I’ll put a front on too.
Supercorsa’s are definitely not a tyre for this time of year, these bikes need to come with winter and summer wheels
Tell me about Glyn, it was the lack of stopping ability that took me off guard.. But lesson learnt plus on that day thought the roads were drier than they turned out to be..
Hi guys, my bonneville will need a new rear tyre soon, what would you recommend of make of tyre I should get, the front is ok, should I change both at the same time.
If the front has life left on it and a new rear doesn't upset the handling go rear only, if it doesn't steer right due to front wear get a front as well .
