Finally got round to a demo day at our new Triumph dealer and took both the 765 and 1050 RS models for a spin. Hell even had a nice chicken burger thingy ! Anyway back to the topic, my thoughts, brilliant bikes in their own rights. I was overwhelmed by the weight difference feel of the new 1050 and completely fell in love with the up and down quick shifter. The 765 beggans to be ridden and comes alive after 8000rpm’s showing that it can hold its own ! Which one wins my heart ? It’s got to be the new 1050, guess I will be making way for it early in 2019 !! Roll on yeah !

Ahh yes, I remember the very same test earlier this year on a nice warm dry day on the A548 from Abergele to Llanwrst. I too chose the the 1050 for more grunt and solid feel. TBH they both shot to over 120 in a similar space (on a private road of course! ). both great bikes ! I was amazed at how easy the 765 was to corner, like you just had to think about it and you were there bang on line and no effort. 1050 was a bit heaver but also less prone to a wobble under hard acceleration. You will love the 1050RS !

Less brilliant in Edinburgh......in fact, downright dreich (an excellent Scots word) as I ran errands for my nominally adult daughters.

    I need:

    a new a**e
    a new seat
or a new bike for an old a**e

I had the same last year. I’ve got an 11 plate street and tested the 765RS. It’s a great bike but wasn’t enough to make me want to upgrade to it.

I then tested the 1050RS and within 10 miles I knew I wanted one. I ended up buying the demo bike I tested!

I found the 1050 heavier and not as nimble as the street but the extra grunt made up for it. Having come from my 11 street with no electrickery gadgets on it, it’s nice to know that I have the safety net of ABS and OCABS if things get hairy.

Good choice you won’t regret it at all I’m sure. Hopefully by the time you get yours some of the little gremlins would have been worked out.

    Next question, white or black

    Happy riding!
    Andy.

I would definitely go with a White one Andy. I saw a 2016 R (previous model) on their floor for 105k, the mileage was much higher than mine though, because one never get much for a trade in irrespective, I will rather sell on consignment when the time comes. It takes slightly longer but always works out in the end. And as you say, I first want to know about the little gremlins too..

The Black is nice but scratches and chips shows way to easy, especially on a matte finish

I don't intend the scratch or chip mine , so hopefully not an issue....
Watch me go and drop something on the tank now I have said it.....
TBH the white ones do look great next to the silver colored parts and
especially good next to carbon fiber parts.

I will see in the new year Tiglet, the one I test drove is for sale, it has 4500km’s on. They want R190000. I’d be very sad to sell mine as it’s really clean and they are very scarce to find with low mileage. That said the new one is good, very good ! Decisions decisions :(
