Well my Jacket has concealed carry pockets with mag holders and it’s fantastic for the job but on longer rides I’d prefer to lose the weight in my chest. So I’ve been considering mounting a finger lock holster to the side cover. Anyone have experience with this? Here’s a pic of the plan.
Shoulder holster is another idea...but doesn't resolve the weight issue completely. Having the weight closer to my body will make it less noticeable though. Rubbing the paint isn't an issue as this would be bolted to the side cover. With my height (6'2") this would place the gun just under my leg behind my knee. Not an easy spot to get to but its not so much for emergencies, just convenience while riding. I cannot ever imagine having a reason to fire a weapon while on a moving motorcycle. Not in anything outside super cool fantasy anyway. I usually ride in the country but when I do go downtown or on a long trip I carry my weapon. Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Are you serious? How do you propose to draw, cock and fire a pistol right handed - or from a right hand position - while operating brake or throttle? And before you dismiss me as a Brit with no practical knowledge I have ridden bikes in conflict zones while armed (a bullpup on my chest and/or 9mm semi-auto on my belt) Your best defence is not offence but speed and manoeuvre. Few people react to surprise as they imagine never mind locating a shooter while wearing a helmet on the move.
um....I don't propose to draw, cock, or fire a pistol while riding a motorcyle in any form. Its purely to be able to holster my weapon off body while on long rides. No more no less. I rarely pack a bag or take one with me so that option is out. Also I would not dismiss a Brit, while serving I had the honor of working with some guys from across the pond and have built up a fair amount of respect. This thread is purely for ideas and thoughts. I could very well scrap the idea and continue to utilize my jacket which has built in placement for a pistol.
Then an ankle holster is your best bet. No appreciable weight on a supported foot and far less likely to cause injury if you and the bike separate! And you can’t forget it.......
So everyone thinks a bike mounted holster is a dumb idea....noted Ill shelve this idea for a while then and look at placement closer to my body or ankle. Now what about my AR.....
I once carried a sword on an R100RS from Germany back to the UK like a Winchester saddle sleeve. Nobody knew what it was or even noticed. The rear pannier on the attached is for a rifle......

A gun is a tool. I bet there are plenty in your neck of the woods. They are held by suitable people for suitable purposes and seldom seen. The Yanks are in a bind. There are so many guns in circulation you could ban them today and barely see a diminution in shootings for 100yrs as they slowly wear out. The whole 2nd Amendment debate generates more heat than light. I think in the UK we are slightly too restrictive but self loading weapons of war have no legitimate civilian use never mind copious ammunition holdings. The post Hungerford legislative tightening was a political fig leaf to obscure how badly the existing law was being policed and has done ZERO to reduce illegally held weapons in criminal hands or the number of (mostly turf war) shootings
Yes a tool I wouldn't have a 10 lb hammer anywhere near my bike.I don't need a 650lb torque wrench. I shoot clays because I'm invited I wouldn't own a gun, or a Samuri Sword in my living room, rat poison under the sink, and my kitchen knives is sharp enough,no sharper.
I’ll let you into a little secret. All that gun porn? It is nonsense. You see, it is the bullets that do the damage but all the ballyhoo is always about the projector not the projectile. I bet your home is littered with objects dangerous if thrown. It is what makes me wary of the kitchen!
I like to target shoot these days but have been in a position more than once where having my weapon with me would have made me feel much better. Been robbed while camping, mugged at knife point while downtown partying, dame cottonmouth snakes showing up while camping...in-law visits. The list goes on. Plus having such small manhood this makes me feel more equal to you guys
I'll make it clear I don't like guns, so a question, in the situations where it would have made you feel much better would having it have lead to an outcome where you may have used it? Not trying to make light of you being robbed or mugged but I can only assume that as you are on here commenting, that the outcome of these situations were of material loss, not loss of life? Different culture over here I know, there are still firearms out there but not to the extent they are in the US & certainly very rare that you hear of assault rifles being used.
In the specific situations listed I would have drawn my weapon knowing full well you don’t draw unless you intend to shoot but a guy with a knife is not going to stick around if I have him literally outgunned. I would have kept my valuables and everyone kept their lives. If that guy were just a crazy who wanted to cut people I would have gotten hurt protecting my friends or killed. Thankfully he just wanted my money. Point is I’d rather be prepared. If it’s life for life I’m not giving mine up easily.

Figured I'd chime in , As a gun owner and a 2nd amendment voice........some, not all, states would lock you up if they see a firearm in clear view. But As a concealed carry option how about under the seat......wrap it up like a tool bag and off ya go......for me I have an ''inside the pants'' holster tucks in at the small of your back and no one is the wiser, and I sure as shit don't ride on my back......thats the wifes job......
