I have a datatool alarm on my Bonnie...if i remove my battery, will it automatically set the alarm off ? I want to remove it for winter.
Not sure about the datatool - I have a Acumen Tempest on my Bonnie (bike came with it) and have disconnected the battery whilst working on the bike for a few hours without it going off. Don't know how it would be affected if battery was removed for a long period though.
Best place for an alarm is in the rubbish, the ones I have on my bikes in the past have been nothing but trouble.
Yeah, I'd like to take mine off if I'm honest. Although it's never gone wrong or drained the battery I just don't trust it! Trouble is it looks like a big job to remove it - too many wires!
Yes alarm will go off. There is a way in which you can set the alarm so it doesn't go off when battery is removed, I think you have to press the grey and black buttons together and the lights flash then it should be safe. I put mine in ferry mode when I put it away but it still drains the battery, best bet is to get a trickle charger, I have one but no power in garage so when battery goes flat with not enough power to start it then its pushed to side of house and left to charge up again. Ming.....
Cheers for that Ming. I have no power in my garage either, and i have a trickle charger too, but obviously i can't use it in the garage. My plan was to remove the battery, and every once in a while give it a blast on the charger... I will have to find the instruction manual for the alarm, i'm sure there will be something in there. Thanks again.
OK, battery removal for a Datatool S4 is as follows: press grey button, turn on ignition, press both black and grey buttons together for 10 seconds until beep, ignition off then disconnect battery. This is also a winter mode (without disconnecting the battery) as it uses less battery power. To reactivate alarm, ignition on alarm will give a series of beeps which last for 5 seconds. Within this time press grey button or alarm goes off then disarm as normal. Ming.....
Hi Ming, you sound like a guy with knowledge... Please would you advise me on this alarm of mine on my TBS YEAR 2000.. It had an aftermarket Datatool Veto Evo fitted which is a pain.. I bought a blank/bridging plug but when it came it was wrong fit.. So I disconnected battery, disconnected plug. I'd already opened alarm box, removed battery and bridged two end-pairs of wires in smaller white block. (as per YT video) reconnected battery. I then tried the starter expecting nothing but it started! So bike runs, no alarm/beeps, should I trust the bike... Or is there any chance I'll get immobilised?... Thanks
