Right so, cause your all experienced bikers who live and breath bikes. Any opinions on these would be very welcome, then stick your vote up. Two choices each ,closes in two days. Looking for the sportiest, nevertheless it has to be at least some comfortable. So which one would you buy, if its not on the list, vote anyway then tell us which one you would have. Cheers.
I have only ridden the Speed and the 1200 version of the Tiger so I voted for them, plus they are Triumphs of course!
Its looking exactly like that DD, I want to make sure I get the right bike, theres a Triple that fits the bill locally, in fact theres two. The longer I wait ,the nicer bike I get, and Im working loads ,so when I get a day off Im not in the mood for a 100 miles trip ,and need to crack on with the house work and all that stuff. So I end up just thinking about it. I want a Triple ,yes , I worry about the comfort although I havnt heard any complaints, I want a fairing, yes , The Kawa seems small, Everyone says you should ride a V4 at least once, and the Hondas a 10 out of 10 , judging by that sound I agree, I would have thought you can ride a Tiger all day, and every one loves them although Andy says no for comfort. It passes the time, till this weeks overtime hits the bank. Im on hols next week so who knows.
View attachment 42785 Andy was complaining of a sore arse,,,,,,maybe that’s with spending to many nights in MrO and Dozers Dad room at the GMU’s and not riding a bike
Whilst I've not ridden one (yet!), the Tiger Sport could possibly be the answer. I have though ridden a Sprint GT and nearly bought one. I loved it. Decided to wait until the following summer but became ill before I could do the deal. Are they still being made?
What about a KTM like Andy rides? But of the ones on your shortlist, the Tiger 800 for the longer journeys. That said, Dougie eats up the miles on his Speed Triple. So you need to demo both mate, before you make your decision.
If it wasn't such crap weather i'd have a run up and we could go a run & swap bikes, have you tried getting a test ride of the Speed Triple & Tiger from Shirlaws in Aberdeen?
I was going to Elgin today, to take up Willie Young on his test rides only its my first stay at home day for a fortnight, and the weather was cr4p ,my last day off was a 14 hour round trip to the rugby, so its good to recharge at home Any way he has a 15 Triple fully loaded (extras) and a Z1000sx ,I was up 3 weeks ago, and asked for a test ride, he wanted more notice to get the bikes ready, gave me a price for the Sprint GT all the same. Hes a little high priced on the Triple until you factor delivery. Shirlaws has both and Im on hols in 3 days time so I should make some progress soon. Thanks for the offer Doug, much appreciated.
I have a 2015 Exploder 1200. All day comfy and as quick as any sportsbike on the road (outclassed a bit on track!) Over 30k on mine now, and my bike of choice for road. Took a Speed 3 out for a couple of days whilst mine was being MOT'd and it felt really quick on one of my usual runs - until I looked at the details on my tracker - I was about 10mph slower just about everywhere on the twisty bits. ;-) Most I've done is just over 600 miles in a day and it's been ridden through 3 winters now. New model is much better - but not so much better that I want to pay over 8 grand to upgrade!!!! They joys of riding more than a hundred miles a year!
So I bought the Speed 15. 1st proper ride. I think I can say I found what I was looking for, Comfort, Shorter gears, Quicker turn. smooth steady turns, sharper throttle response, and no cramps. I enjoyed the whole bike and even out of the gate I was moving faster through the local bends , round by me.
The VFR 750 was, as you know a brilliant bike. The VFR800 was a useless piece of poo! The VFR-Vtec is a brilliant bike.
I had an 800 it was silver , but test rode the v-tec and it was better at handling, road-holding, comfort, headlights and aerodynamics. The 800 would nearly throw you off whilst you're passing lorries. The V-tec was perfick. I had a blue 750fv which I think was the last run of the 750's. It was the one knicked at 6 weeks old Incidentally I think the gear-driven cams was only on the 750's. I remember the die-hard VFR fans complaining when the 800 first came out, they weren't on the 800.
