If you go down this route, take note of the original pipe internal diameter and use a fitting with the same internal diameter or you may end up with overheating issues. I would also suggest removal of the water pump and flushing out of the coolant system including the thermostat, after the repair has been done to clear out any debris from the repair or the original fitting that may be inside. Strip & clean out the water pump too. Refill with fresh coolant and bleed out the system.
