Need to take bike in for 1st 500 mile service. Dealer is 35 miles away and weather of course is cold and wet and 'orrible. Speaking as a lifelong wimp, apart from ruining my perm, don't feel too confident on the SuperCorsas. How do they perform on cold British tarmac? In two minds over fitting the Metzeler M7s....And can anyone recommend a waterproof hair spray?

You will be fine. Its takes a few miles more to let the tyres warm up a little. And if you still feel funny take a couple of pounds out of the tyres. Just remember that all tyre makers design their tyres to perform in all weathers. You Perm I can't help you with. You may have to talk to some of our fairer members on here.

The Supercorsas are a legal road race tyre so not so great in damp or wet conditions whereas the M7RRs or the Bridgestones are far more of an all weather tyre, so your decision is really based around how you ride your bike and in what conditions you ride it.
Only you can make the final choice but in my experience you have got to have confidence in whatever rubber you have on or you will not ride it to your full potential.

Yep thanks. I don't like riding in the rain if I have a choice, but I'm often caught out. I do like riding all year round tho' - crisp sunny days in December etc are fantastic and I have to have confidence in my tyres. It's down to whether I want to fork out on new rubber after 600 miles...seems crazy...

Never had a problem with the first 2 sets on my speed triple even in hard rain although i have now fitted the new rosso 3's as they are a better rubber compound for road use and so far i am impressed.

I did it with my RSV....came shod with 207RRs when I bought it many moons ago. Couldn't get on with them at all, no confidence with them so swapped out for Bridgestones on the first service.
    Never regretted it :cool::cool:

M7 rr all day long in my experience with both grip levels are roughly the same on the road but the metzler will last a lot longer

    Rosso 3 are good!
In the soaking wet they actually perform admirably. I came to this conclusion after test riding a Tiger 1200 in absolute downpour with Tourance Next tires which were shite in comparison. Kept braking traction in places that the Rosso3s felt planted.
And in the dry they are nearly as good as the Supercorsas.
Only noticed that the Rosso3's rear does brake traction slightly easier when exiting corners. But nothing serious.
And they dont last that much longer than the Supercorsas. I have just done 6000kms on them and I think I will be changing soon.
I will switch to Bridgestone S21's only because I have won a pair of them on a contest  but otherwise I would go back to Supercorsas as I don't get much rain on this side of the world and I miss the crazy levels of confidence that I had with them. As Helmut Visor said, you have to find which rubber better suits your style and needs but more importantly one that gives you the most confidence. Riding without confidence is nearly as dangerous as riding under the influence!

Tyres are personal choice, ask 5 riders and you'll get 5 different recommendations, all I'll say about the Super Corsa is that if you ride with a little more caution in the wet you'll be fine, couple of weeks ago I did my training to get my race licence on a (very) wet track with SC's that had done a race meeting so were worn.
I was not thrilled at the prospect of going out on the wet track with these, but to be fair I never had a single moment where the tyres let go, but that said I didn't 'go for it' just did enough to pass the course, so I guess what may be considered as 'brisk' road pace. If you only ride occasionally in the wet I wouldn't bother swapping them, your perm however is a bit more serious, try getting a rubber swimming cap as you don't wanna go all 'Hair Bear Bunch' if it gets wet!

Too late, took the bike in this morning to get the PDR3's fitted and as you will notice from attached snap, the worry has made all me bleedin' hair fall out...think I might sue...

Hope you kept the Super Corsa's, they're worth money to someone, if they were same size as the Bandit ones I would have had them off you.
At least your hair won't go frizzy if it gets wet now! o_O

Yeah wondering what to do with the supercorsas. Am I likely to do a track day? Not on this bike anyway. How much do you think they're worth - 600 miles only...?

Quick blast, around 40 miles to scrub 'em in on some cold damp roads... so far they feel great, tip-in seems smooth and secure, best of all I feel confident on 'em...well pleased...

And best news is they don't suffer from heat cycle degradation like the SC as they have a different road biased compound :)

For the hard of thinking Darkman, please explain what heat cycle degradation is, and why is it worse on Super Corsa's?

You mean you don't know what heat cycle degradation is? Call yourself a motorcyclist...;)
Quick Google - tyre heating up and cooling down many times over leads to degradation of err...the compound, leading to err..less than adequate performance...I think it's a bit more complicated than that...
A good day - now beer...
