Had first service on my Street Twin at a well known Triumph Dealers (no names coz I'm not sure what Triumph's reaction might be). Because I've had the service done early from a mileage point of view (200 just not had the time to get out on it through work etc) as I bought it in July I was told to get it serviced anyway. I do a lot of my own maintenance so I told the mechanic I would probably do another oil and filter at about 1000-1500mls. He asked if I had a filter socket I said I had one for my Honda - that should fit ok he said as we use Honda filters because the Triumph ones are sh1t. Not sure which model filters they are but I intend to find out. JB
Cost of the filter and oil to me is irrelevant. Why spend £8-10k on a bike and then try to save a few quid on a filter and oil once a year? Don't get me wrong the Hi-Flo may be perfectly ok, but there is no way I would risk a K&N now. JB
I have used the genuine now since I had Triumph's and no bad results. A lot of people talk just for the sake of talking. No manufacturer is going to release a bike without extensive testing including filters so I think you are pretty safe no mater what filter you choose. Ride Free Joe
I have the Triumph filter wrench and it works OK for me on my Street Twin. I use the wrench to initially just loosen the filter maybe 1/2 turn (before oil starts to drain from the filter). Then pull off the wrench and remove the filter by hand. Works for me.
Interesting comment. I can truly say I've not heard of anyone, customer or tech, at our dealerships complaining about the quality of the Triumph filters. fwiw, Halfords own brand are Hi-flo with different letters in front of the standard Hi-flo part numerals
