Hi, I'm a relatively new rider from Norway, bought a Street Cup last year, but this is my first stroll through an mc forum, looking for some good insight and tips. (I know you guys like photoes, so I'll upload one later) At the moment I've driven around 15k km, and my front tyre seem to be a bit worn out, would you guys recommend changing both tyres, or would it suffice to just change the front one. How do you think it would affect handling? Any recommendations regarding style would also be appreciated.
Thanks everyone, happy to be here. Then I'll look in to only changing the front, the back seems really well compared to the front. Why would the front deteriorate quicker than the back wheel?
Probably the first one there I'm slightly embaressed to say, because I bought the bike new of a dealer.
Welcome aboard. On the Cup you tend to ride weight to the front, so front tyre might wear quicker. Whatever, if you've done 15km on original tyres you've done really really really well. In the great scheme of things tyres are relatively cheap when factored over the miles you get out of them. My advice would be to change both. The rear will certainly be worn too, and may be getting squared off. You'll notice a huge difference on two new tyres.
Nicolai. Think I would also change both unless the rear is spanking shape. But you see with most of the new bike when you pick them up the front always seems to have less tread than the front. And never ever be embarrassed. Its a sign of weakness. And its your bike you ride it the way that suits you. Most of all be happy and yes we will all be waiting with baited breath to see the steed. Welcome to the Asylum you should fit right in. Change both as the others have already said. Now about style get a hair cut grow a beard and buy a nice new leather jacket . A cool tee shirt and some Jean's and a leather waistcoat. And some boots All in the Colour BLACK. Tucker
Hi, Nicolai, welcome along. I’m not sure if I’m reading your first message right, you say you’ve ridden 15 k km? is that 15,000 km?, if so then the tyre will probably be ready for changing. As you can see you’ve got 9 or 10 replies before we’ve gone way off topic, it’s a bit of a trend I’m afraid, we get easily distrac ooooh look, cake!
[QUOTE="Yorkshireman, post: 226471, member: 3946" we get easily distrac ooooh look, cake! [/QUOTE] Or of course ooooh look Boobies!
Good morning and welcome. I'd have to agree and only change out the front tire. Remember to always ride safe!
Very unusual to wear out a front ahead of the rear if they were both new together? On road bikes I have nearly always managed to make a front last for 2 rears, didn't quite manage it on my Street 765RS as front was done before 2nd rear was, but I put that down to the roads in the Pyrenees being soooo twisty!
Hello Nicolai and welcome to the forum I’d be changing both tyres as after 15000km which is just under 10000 miles your rear tyre must be getting goosed/squared off. Wish I could get 15000km + out of a rear tyre.
Could very well be wear and tear then, I have 15000km on it now, so probably due a change. the rear tyre is still fine though, thick and deep groves. Going to check the price for changing both anyways, might be cool to get a brand new look with the tyres. Thanks for all the feedback
