Yes Mick - had the front wheel off the ground just - but there is supposed to be some pre-load I guess but what a cheap way to improve the bike! May go for the TEC adjustable top caps next!
Hi I have a 2010 Bonneville SE I fitted progressives own 412 rear shocks on the rear which came from Evilbay hardly used bargain & £60 then purchased Tecs progressive front springs also £60 and I can honestly say its a totally different bike now up to stock front @ rear suspension
Had TEC Gas shocks on for about 12K. Though better than OEM I hound them a bit to harsh for my old man's pottering. There are softer springs available I believe and probably would have been more suitable. Decided to bite the bullet and get some YSS G series shocks. There's now a wide range of settings, much better suitable for my riding needs. The front supports TEC progressive springs with Thruxton Fork tops and spacer tubes (left over from a cartridge upgrade on a previous Thruxton). This set up is an improvement, can even increase the preload on the move, though probably not adviseable
I have an unused set of TEC Progressive fork springs for Street Twin for sale in Parts, Accessories & Clothing section of this site.
I have the gas shocks, TEC, on my 06 Scrambler and it made a big difference in the handling! The main reason I made this move was to lower the bike. I have read previous posts from unhappy customers, but I am not one of those/ And yes sir, they are considerably cheaper than many alternatives. I am a happy customer!
I had hagon front springs and 2 win fully adjustable on the rear and in my opinion my thruxton coped better with our UK roads better than an R model.
I couldn't agree more. I have the gas shocks on my scrambler. I have noticed a nice difference over the stockers. Although admittedly the main reason for the change was to lower the bike for me! The price is right too!
I now use TEC progressive fork springs complete with their pre-load adjusters on my Tracer and to me they are a significant improvement plus you really can feel the difference when you adjust them.
I had TEC progressive springs and rear shocks and not only did my bike have an unwelcome rake they just didn't ride well. Too hard and backing everything off till they 'bed in' is just not right. Too many stories around of them breaking as well. Hardly going to be TUV tested at that money. Best economical solution would be Hagon as a minimum. Thing is, almost anything is better than OE, they're that bad.
Thanks Flaship for the post. I’ve just purchased some TEC progressive springs though haven’t fitted them as yet. Your mention of them breaking is a worry. Has this happened to any members of this forum?
Just done the deed and fitted them. Watched a useful video on Stuart Fillingham’s YouTube channel which spells it all out. Trickiest part was getting the handlebars back to their original position after slackening them off to improve access. Worth marking if you are doing this job. I must say the spacers that are supplied with the replacement springs are not as good quality as the originals. The first set of spacers were a couple of mm difference in height to each other. In fairness to TEC they responded to my complaint and promptly sent replacements.
