Pilot road 5's on my bike and they are great in all weathers. Have done 7600 kms on them and there's loads left.

    Great tyre all in all.

I have just done 160 miles on the road 5's . Great tyre that warms up well at normal road speeds . As i leave my house on cold tyres i go right , left , left , right , and of course the manhole covers are all in the way . The supercorsa slid on these covers , the Road 5's dont .
As others have said all modern rubber is good if you use the right ones for the job .

Got some cheap Pirelli on my Speed Triple at the moment that came with the bike, trying to wear them out so I can fit the Road 5's I currently have in my garage

Had Road 4 previously and they were brill
    I get mine off eBay
Get the local tyre fitter to swap the tyres over on loose wheels for £10 each
Balance them at home and refit

Far cheaper than getting a dealer to supply and fit

Not used either of the tyres you mention (I use Pirelli on my Sprint), but I get all my tyres from a website called Moto-tyres. Very similar to Black Circles, but I find the website much easier to navigate with a more options. There seem to be more fitters listed on there as well & you can have the tyres sent to the fitters directly.

    www.moto-tyres.co.uk/

As I say, I buy all my tyres from that site and always been happy price etc.

Got Road 4s and superb. Apparently, Road 5s are biased towards more wet grip in the centre than the shoulders (after they surveyed how most ride in the wet). Just another point - beware buying discounted old stock tyres. Some have been knocking around for up to 10 years. Ok if they have been stored ok, but I have experienced some fitters saying they weren't happy fitting them (I have bought in the past and been quite happy with them though).
