Just started using this, although of course it's been out for ages. Very fast and effective (whatever it is). :upyeah: http://bigbikemad.com/muc-off-visor-cleaner.html What do you guys use? Dave
Unfortunately water just wouldn't budge the bugs we get... also ordinary tissue will scratch visor coatings. Don't know what's in the Muc-off stuff but it works really fast. HH
:upyeah: Although I'm sure the bits of bug are far more abrasive than any tissue. I always clean it straight away, never let the stuff weld itself on overnight, never had any issues.
Wife and I used the muc-off bottles on our Euro tour earlier this year, works well and is small enough to easily carry in your tank bag. Found spraying on then leaving for a minute or two worked best. Just beware, check how tight the tops are screwed onto the bottles as I have twice now had the contents leak out the bottles when being carried on the bike.
Hi Richard, Thanks for that - I'll add it to the review and put the Triumph Forum Logo and a link on there too. I always welcome input from riders such as yourself. HH
All i have ever used after a ride is a warm damp piece of kitchen roll stretched over the visor and left for 2 minutes, come back wipe (very easily) the remains of the bugs (however big) off and dry with a dry piece of kitchen roll. Out and about just wipe with wet cloth and dry with dry. Never ever scratched the coating of a visor with either way even iridium ones.
It looks good but I think the price would rule it out for me! Perhaps it's the screens I've had over the past few years or an increase in bugs but when I've been in France I've needed to stop every 100 miles or so to clean the visor so one of those bottles would soon disappear. I just use the sinks in service area toilets and dry and polish with tissue. No problems so far. This was cleaned about an hour before I got to Calais ....
I have used this for ages and it works very well, also to save money I buy the big bottle and tip it into the small bottle.
One the essentials of bike / equipment cleaning is Baby Wipes With the visor, just lay the wipe across the visor for a minute so soak in and then just wipe off Moist enough to work and soft enough not to scratch I also use them to clean my wheels and fork legs
I always carry a dampened chammy leather in a small plastic food/freezer bag. Mr Sheen or similar, with a soft cloth, also works well and helps disperse water droplets when it rains. Doesn't seem to harm the visor, either - and is great for getting chain lube off the rear wheel and also removing grease/oily stuff from your hands in an emergency.
My windscreen on the Trophy pushes the air flow over the top of my helmet so no problem at all. Mind you the windscreen does get its fair share of bugs and other detritus.:upyeah:
