I would of bought it myself....but my lass is wanting the darker grey rs.
Believe me when I say the bike will be a complete weapon, the brakes are superb and the power delivery is all you need.
And let's face it the first 1100 miles running it in are absolutely horrendously boring hahaha
Speak to kev I'm sure he'll let you take it out.

That ST R,is exactly same as mine ,I traded in a 09 ST S675, in for it
,I have thought since that I should have bought the new S model
they have a very nice red one at Pidcock triumph ,the brakes on my S model were good enough it wasn't a slow bike,,the R does better front forks bigger brakes new dash and you dial in three modes Road -Rain -Sport
you don't get them on the S My honest opinion is I should have saved some money and bought the S its same engine,

Talk to Phil at Laguna Motorcycles, he has 3 brand new S models for £7k flat, great price. IdI like to hear why you regret getting the R instead of a new S, altho I'm committed to the R now.

I Dont regret getting the R,i bought the LOW RIDER HEIGHT one
its a very nice bike ,it was the first one to come in at dealers so didn't get choice of colours unless I waited for a while, looking at it honestly
the S is lower seat height than normal R or RS so could have flat footed the S
and I think the R is more bike than I need, compared to the 675 its very much faster

Yes, totally understand and agree with you. I'm a short arse (173cm) and must admit I liked being able to flat foot the new S. That said, not sure if the one I'm buying is a short R or not, but I sat on it last week in the shop and could flat foot that too. I think it must be, because i tried the RS in the same shop and was on tip toes on that one. I really like the contrast of the matt grey and red on the R. Black is good but on the S I missed the contrasting red frame bits.

I too sat on RS and R and was on tiptoes ,if the bike you are looking is a low one it will be LRH R

I would buy the R if it were me, mainly cos it has the bits from the RS mostly but more midrange and more road friendly suspenders than the RS. The S will be fine on the brakes but it will lack that yummy extra feeling the R will convey. Note to self. DO NOT BUY ONE. YOUR LICENCE WON'T TAKE IT!

Thanks for all the replies. As an update, I've paid the money now and will be collecting the R in two weeks! I'm actually quite excited, and never felt that buying my Tracer, so that kind of answers all my doubts....

Excellent, let us know how you get on with it. I’ve had my ex-demo RS for about 3 weeks now. Absolutely love it.

    Hi

I have bought a second hand R and with the upgraded brakes are key for me and so long as it was privately owned and not a demo bike as others have mentioned then I would recommend the R.

Go for the R, you get more goodies,
Different rider modes, brakes up grade
And I think you get the new display as well.
