has anyone put the dresser bars on a new T100 or T120 ? if so are they more decorative or would they actually offer protection in case of a drop ? Had a series of unfortunate events in the last month which led to bike falling over once on the LHS and once on the RHS now considering extra protection for my delicate bits !

i fitted dresser/crash bars on my Bonneville and like a plonker mentioned it when renewing my insurance , sorry sir this company wont insure you ??????? after a rant to bloke on phone changed company , the company that refused insurance was a subsidury of carol nash
Yes they do offer protection in a drop. And yes some insurance companies don't like to quote if there are accessories. Some insurers allow e.g. accessories. That's life I'm afraid.
so far i've had the two drops! One when by stand went through the tarmac on my driveway in the recent hot weather- resulting in new clutch lever . The other, after recounting the above sad tale to my old riding instructor, was caused by the stand support he gave me causing my bike to slide down the drive ! My driveway is quite steep and made the mistake of taking the bike out of gear to start it. I placed something in the pannier on the rhs, then went round to the left hand side to kick the stand support away, while walking around the back of the bike the whole thing started sliding down the driveway. I grabbed it, trying to put the front brake on and stop it, but too late it had already started turning sideways due to the front wheel still being in the steering lock postion, and the bike went over onto the rhs knackering the brake pedal ! - and my back !!
Bloody hell, you might have cleaned those bikes before showing them to the world, they're absolutely filthy.

ah ha ! you see the dilemma- if triumph called them crash bars I would be more confident in purchasing them, but as they are described as dresser bars- i think they may be just as bendy as my rear brake or clutch.- in which case i'm out !
I fitted Givi crash bars after myT120 was accidentally knocked over at work while I was away. Very expensive mishap, far more than the cost of the bars. 2 weeks later I came out of Sainsbury's to find some little sh1ts had knocked over all the bikes in the parking zone and I only suffered a slightly scuffed plastic crash bar protector. Money well spent.
I had 'crash bars' on my old Yamaha RD200 (Original gold one) and I had a disagreement with a car on a roundabout and down I went. Brilliant I thought, no damage to bike as I picked it up. Got home and a mate came round, took one look at the bike and declared 'that frames bent Pete, how did that happen'? So no I wouldn't use them again! ps traded the bike in for a Laverda Jota (I know it's a bit of a jump, but what the heck, I was young and stupid) and couldn't believe the guy never spotted the duff frame win win
