To much to ask I'm afraid, last two new Triumphs I have bought came with 1/3 to half a tank

Dealers don't like keeping too much petrol in cans in the work shop and if they ride your brand new bike to the filling station means it gets dirty and a random dealer guy puts the first miles on your new bike (although they should do a short road test on the bike, mine had 1 mile on)

 

Speed and Street we bought last September both had full tanks.

 

I would say it depends on how good you are at haggling, I would certainly try for a tank of juice...

 

If I was a dealer I would do the following.

You don't want a load of petrol in the place and trying to tip a full tank of fuel into a new tank could go a bit wrong, you also don't want to be putting extra miles on a customers new bike when you don't have to.

Solution. put enough fuel in the tank to get the bike to the nearest petrol station and when you hand the keys over also include a £20 fuel voucher.

Might cost the dealer £20 but things like that help getting the customer back to buy their 2nd and 3rd bike off of you.

It's these little details that matter when it comes to selling a bike and bad customer service is the best way of making sure that they don't come back.

 

My local bike dealer has it written into the sale contract that they will ensure there is at least 6 litres of fuel in the tank when you buy a bike. The fuel light was still on when I bought my Bonnie, but I knew I had plenty to get home (or to a filling station).

 

bought a car from second hand dealer, he had an account with local petrol station, gave me a voucher. service seems to takes second place to profit and that seems to be excepted by they' re peers, its the fashion at mo. it will swing around again.

 

Most motorcycles I have bought from dealers have had at least a third of a tank of fuel. However when I took delivery of my Hurricane in the 70's there was so little fuel I ended up pushing it to the nearest filling station.
When I picked up my Trophy SE it came with a full tank.:upyeah:

 

Picking up a new bike tomorrow - comes with a full tank as part of the service. (Laguna Maidstone).

I thought most garages filled the tank as a courtesy gesture on a new bike. Having said that I bought a new car a few years ago and it was just onto reserve.

Yup, full tank of fuel when I collected it, significantly less in the tank now!

The weather was shite yesterday the rain was tremendous, I barely managed more that 30 odd miles before giving up and turning back for home.

Today however, despite the damp roads I went out and had a blast.

I have had plenty of 600cc sports bikes over the years but this is in a different league, I can feel that it just wants to go all the time.

Anyway, bike now on its paddock stand ready for a clean!:upyeah:
