My Niece has a 4 bed house in carnoustie and is renting it out for the open,with the money she is getting she is going on a fortnights holiday with her husband and 3 kids to Florida to do all the Disney theme parks, even accounting for spending money they should still have money left over the company she used for renting her house out makes £3K out of the deal!!
Some years ago (20 ish) Coca Cola tried to rent the round house opposite Royal Birkdale when the Open was there, rumour had it that the figure offered was £250,000. Apparently they were going to paint the outside rendering to look like a Coca cola can, the deal was that they would repair any faults in the rendering prior to painting then a complete re work after the Open, pay for a two week holiday where ever the owner wanted plus the moolah. Mad owner turned them down. Imagine the stable of steeds you could have bought with that amount!
