I'm thinking about getting one but not sure, I've years if sports bikes and a couple of cruisers thrown in....but never Triumph. I'm not a quick rider but have my moments, two of the best bikes I've had so far was an early R1 and a blackie

    Welcome to the forum Gus

These are rather rare bikes and are very good if you can get hold of one they are worth having.

I am due to pick one up soon once I sell my T595.

They are more or less a Mk 1 Speed Triple with a faring higher bars and 6 gears.

There weren't many of these made so they may be worth holding on to. :upyeah:

Is it this one you are looking at?

Thanks......not that one but nearly identical...I don't like the fairing though, it's to big and dated looking with the twin round lights

Ah, you have got on to one of the really rare ones these were the first and there were only 80 ever made in 96 as a run off special all Jet Black.

They then proved so popular that Triumph brought more bikes out in 97 and 98 in either Jet Black or Tornado Red.

Looks really nice. My one is one of the last (1999)

These bikes as I said are more or less a Mk1 speed triple with a faring and slighty higher bars (but lower than the normal sprint)
they should have the black upswept exhausts, gold infills on the disc brakes and fully adjustable suspension.
The normal Sprints are more less a Trident 900 with a top faring.

The best way to check you are looking at a real Sprint Sports is take the frame number and call you local triumph dealer to confirm that it is a genuine bike.

    Cheers

They are very nice, and a useable classic. they are not an R1 tho, lol. The engine is strong but they can be noisy and agricultural at tickover. Make sure the battery is top notch or the sprag clutch can fail and that is expensive. Dont ask how I know.

So what you are saying is that you don't need to got to the Chiropractor every time you get off the bike
At the end of the day they are more than quick enough to get a ticket and I would call it more of a Mechanical noise than agricultural (never going to be as smooth as a 4) Also the Sports are well .... They are a bit Sportier

The later models were also had a improved sprag clutch but you are right about getting a decent battery.

This is the one to go for :upyeah:
