Hi, Just joined and would like to say hello to every one. I had a quick look around the site and there seems to be lots of good information and help to be found. I am from Gateshead, Tyne & Wear and I ride a 2011 Speedy, this is my 4th Hinckley Triumph triple the first I bought new in 1991 a 900 Trident, WP_000037.jpg

Hi Gerry and welcome to the forum. Fantastic bike you have there, I had the same machine up to March this year and loved it. Unfortunately a knee problem forced me to sell and buy something with a slightly more relaxed riding position.

Hi Richard H. Thanks for the welcome, I'v got the same problem with the knee's but love her to much to let her go. Had a Tiger 1050 before the Speedy Excellent bike very comfy loads of power and handled great but missed the planted feel of the Speedtriple.

Welcome to the Forum Gerry

They are great bikes, I still miss my 2011 Speed Triple. One of the best bikes I have ridden ever :upyeah:

I do have one question. What is the go with those tyres??? They look like race slicks but I'm guessing that they are K3's

I changed mine to Z8's and they were brilliant.

    Cheers

    Steve

    Hi SteveJ,
I Dont know why Triumph fit the K3's They are super sticky but no good in the wet, (spin up all over) and lasted 1000 mls before loosing the middle tread on the back. Its fitted with Michelin pilot power 2ct's now, still sticks like glue and great in the wet. It gets used every day rain or shine and the 2ct's give a lot of confidence & feedback.
    Cheers
    Gerry

Yes as soon as there was a hint of moisture on the road those K3's were deadly and you also had to really give it some to get them up to temp

K3 rear on my Speed Trip did not make 2000 miles before it was totally nackered. Fitted Pilot Road 3's which were much better.

As I said cant fault the pilot power 2ct's, but cant understand Triumph fitting tyres on a bike like the speed triple that dont work in the wet, It is the UK after all, loads of wet stuff.
