Hey team, I actually noticed this ages ago but I totally forgot about it, but I noticed it the other day and thought I'd ask if it was worth complaining about. Hopefully you can see it alright, but it's on the outside grey bit. I bought this new in October and I noticed it not long after, so although it's been 8 months now I reckon that shouldn't happen, at all. Am I right to be annoyed at that?
That's only going to get worse, ask for it to be changed under warranty. It's spoiling an otherwise perfect bike and as and when you come to part company with the bike will be picked up and affect the sale value, unless you're on a PCP contract and will be giving it back at the end of the agreement.
How is it wear and tear? What would cause that? Bear in mind it's only 8 months old and I noticed after 2 or 3. edit... just thought about it So you're thinking the fuel pump hitting off the edges? hmmm I guess we only have my word for this, but I'm *very* careful not to do that. Anyway, I've emailed them so we'll see what they say.
I also have a new 765 RS, not even 12 months old, and have exactly the same issue. Paint flaking and peeling away in the same location. Have you spoken to the dealer about this yet? Im planning on going in this week and hoping for it to be changed.
A bare metal fitting in that application will always show less wear & tear than a painted item in the same application
Not yet. Emailed them the picture today, and will follow up tomorrow with a call when they are open. I'll let you know what they say.
Wee update, the dealership wants me to take it in so they can take pictures to make a claim. I won't be able to get in until Saturday though.
Good news, dealer said the same to me, they'll put in a claim and see what triumph say. Hoping they replace it!
The key's sticking in mine as well, so either way, they're replacing or fixing something. I get that paint chipping is down to putting the pump nozzle in and out, but painting that seems like a *really* silly thing to do - either make it incredibly hardy paint, or leave it bare metal.
Wee update... they're replacing the fuel cap. Not until the end of June though, they're a bit busy atm. Apparently the key sticking was because someone's been trying to get into the tank. The guy who looked at it said it's clearly been bashed and tampered with... wtf?!
Excellent news, i emailed some pictures across but its been a couple of weeks and haven't heard anything back. They said they'd put in a warranty claim. How long do these things take to get a response? Ill have to go down in person.
Took less than a week for them to get back to me once the claim went through. Guess it just differs dealer by dealer
Yea, it's really annoying, it seems like such an obvious design flaw to me - why would you paint that knowing that folk are gonna knock the petrol pump nozzle off of it?
All very interesting and seems to revolve around 2018 765 RS models unless I'm mistaken? I've just personally been through a warranty paint claim on a back wheel and I have to say Triumph were brilliant. Prompt courteous response with follow up and the dealer (Cobb and Jagger Shipley) booked me in and did what they needed to do. I really couldn't have asked for more so well pleased I was anticipating being palmed off with a touch up stick and a woolly hat/sticker or other tat but no way, they stood by their product and acted appropriately 10/10
