Ok...where is this hole? That may be a key piece of information.

    You’re right, it’s a very silly question.

Front left hand side of engine behind rad. I was just curious as to what it was there for.

I had to go look at my bike for myself to see the hole in question. I didn't get the correct perspective looking at your picture (no offense meant) as it made the hole look way bigger than it actually is so I took a picture of my own for others to see. I have nothing of value to add because I myself do no know what it is for and and have admittedly wondered. Excuse my engine dirt. My engine is on my 2017 High Torque 900cc Street Cup.

The fact it is not powder coated could be a clue....where the case is secured/handled during final coating?

As above, something to do with a jig for fitting the engine to the frame keeping the mounting bolts free?

I believe that the hole is an accurately located hole for a pin, or dowel. This pin is part of a tooling fixture that holds the block casting rigidly so that various machining operations can be performed. "That's my story and I'm sticking to it!"

Could be a hole used to locate the casting when being machined

This hole was strategically placed by Triumph so that someone would ask what it's for!
