Time for new front brake pads what's everyone using on their 2016 speed triple r I want an upgrade but not "race spec" I actually want them to work
Still got the standard pads in, been looking for replacements but thin on the ground on the interweb for suggestions
I am half way through my 2nd set : 14,000 miles (9,000 miles per set) including motorway and city traffic I use the triumph prescribed Brembo pads costing just shy over £100 for the complete front set They are very good and keep the stopping distance down in the rain and dry. My experiences Alternatives are EBC at half the cost but as these are the anchors that keep you and your £11,000 bike from damage and destruction I think it is a small investment Tyres and brakes are one area I do not go cheap on
brembo sc sintered fast road and track. bloke on fast bike magazine recommended them I got them on my fireblade best pads iv ever had. don't let the word track put you off there awesome on the road.
Personally I'd stick with the OE Brembo pads, there have been comments that Triumph discs can wear quicker with non-OE pads (they would say that wouldn't they). It's also not uncommon for warping problems, although that's still possible with OE pads (mine were replaced under warranty).
Don't know whether Triumph dealers mark up the pad price, might be cheaper direct from a Brembo supplier if there's a part number visible on the back of the pads? (Also seem to remember reading that latest models have slightly different pad material, don't know if there's anything to be gained by that - My 94R brakes are excellent, so don't fix it if it aint broke IMO )
I think Euro Car Parts sell Brembo bike brake pads now, if so they'll be much much cheaper than Stealer
If that works and they do sell Brembo pads at Euro parts don't buy them straight away if you can wait! Get yourself on their e-mailing list - it's a ballache, of course, but you'll get offers EVERY weekend (actually most days, too!) with 30 to 50% off in their weekend/birthday/bank holiday day/ sunshine day/rainy day/ yada yada yada day sale. Hopefully that'll get you even more discount (and free postage) and you can then (try to) unsubscribe. The thing about their discounts, though, is that the prices are probably jacked slightly for regular sale and then discounted on offered sales. Still tends to work out cheaper for things like (motor) oil, filters, etc., and might for the bike stuff, too. I've probably got enough 10/40 semi synth and filters to do changes on my car for the next 5 or 6 years! With over 143k on the car you might say I'm an optimist ....... Be interested to know if it works for you. Regards, Adie
Sold my company 18 months ago, we had an account with ECP. They were at the time pushing Brembo sales on cars & bikes. Perhaps not enough uptake on the bike scene.
I suspect part of the Triumph deal with Brembo is dealer only spares supply to profitably tie you in with premium pricing. I suspect the EBC sintered item is indistinguishable at the handlebar but you fret it is not Brembo. I wouldn’t!
