    Hi guys/girls

I have p0505 fault code idle control.
Does anyone know how this can be repaired. Either at home or in a garage.

    TIA

Thanks for the quick reply. It had an exhibit in a few month ago and a new map built in by triumph. Who couldn't clear that fault.

If they could not clear it then it must be a sensor fault.
    TuneECU is free.
An OBD lead is about a tenner, I would give it a try.
Was the new map built by the dealer? I bet they just disabled the offending sensor. I doubt triumph would get involved in building a bespoke MAP for non current portfolio bike.
As suggested give TuneECU a go;)

I'm not sure if this will help, but the Triumph Service Manual for your bike will have the diagnostic procedure for this fault. I have the manual for the T-Bird, but it won't do you any good for another bike or potentially even a different year. There are specific pin numbers on the ECM that need to be tested for continuity, resistance and faults. On my bike, this code is "Idle Air Control Valve System Malfunction." It's probably the same on yours. I can tell you that every diagnostic step is looking for a fault in the wiring or testing for a malfunction in the stepper motor.
