Hi, looking for a bit of advice on my next purchase, currently riding a 1996 srident sprint but getting a bit long in the tooth thinking about upgrading to a 2009 sprint st or a 2010 tiger 1050, planning on doing a few miles this year but not sure which one would be more suited .

Hi and welcome, I will confuse the issue and put a case forward for the Tiger 1050, I have one and it is also a great all-rounder. Easy to get on with, I go into Europe for a week each year on it and economy is great, easy 200+ miles to a tank. I always use soft luggage so cannot comment on the hard luggage, but it is easy to fit bags etc. I assume they are the same engine (others will hopefully confirm) so it will be down to how you feel sat on them both. I have kept mine standard (2013, first of the Tiger Sport) and the screen works well for me.

However, I do like the look of the ST, a pal has recently sold his, it always looked immaculate and he went all over Europe on it, he sold it with 40k miles and it still looked in top condition.

Both great bikes that are very underated. Enjoy your test rides and I hope the weather is good for you.

They're all good bikes Stu. I've got a 2010 Sprint ST ABS and a 1999 955i Sprint. Both excellent all rounders. I actually now ride a 2015 Tiger 800 cos my arthritis doesn't like the riding position on the Sprints so much these days, so gonna be selling them once the Spring selling season starts.
