    ... oh and the cheaper brands tend to make only two shell sizes for each model, and adjust fit with the inner padding, whereas the premium brands will have three or even four shell sizes.

    Premium brands such as Arai and Shoei also sell or if it’s a decent retailer supply free different innering/cheek pads for new helmets for that correct fit.
    So if your thinking of buying a new Arai or Shoei and your not quite happy with the fit a decent retailer should have a stock of different linings and cheek pads:eek: to make the helmet fit your ed correctly.

    Like has been previously said you should change your helmet regularly; it is up to you what "regularly" actually means. So you pay your money and you take your chances. For me my head safety is "top" of my list on keeping me safe when I ride. I hope I never have to find out whether I made the right choice.

    Definitely replace as 12 years old and technology has moved on. Also there are approved flip front helmets that work well. Have you thought of this option.:idea:
