good stuff that's the way it should be dealt with nothing worse than having to argue about such things.
That’s great!! I wonder if I’ll get the same treatment for my 2011 one? Hmmmmm! Shall I start a poll?
hi fantastic news on the wheel front, could i ask a favour would you be able to take a couple of pics of the wheel please ,its the inside of the rim i am intrested in to see if it has the safety rim /bead fitted please thanks jason
I get the impression that pre 20 years ago rust was chrome coloured and has just recently turned to an orangy brown. All my pre 90’s bikes never seemed to get rusty even though kept outside and ridden all year round!
That's good news. I asked our Service Managers at Woburn and Wellingborough about this. No-one has complained about spokes rusting on any of the new Bonnies or Thruxtons. Don't neglect regular cleaning and corrosion protection (e.g. polish, ACF50).
In 91 my, what was fairly basic trident 900 was £6200. Just done a check and in today' value that £13k. A top spec street 765RS at about 10k or basic at a little over £8k, Something has to give. On that I think they offer great value for money. Just my thoughts.
I'd agree the 765 is great value, especially the R (I lust after one). I'm currently riding a demo T120 whilst my Street twin gets more scramblerised. It's another cracking bike with a fabulous engine, but I'd have the 765 every time I think, just for the sheer fun factor.
Yeah, I rode the RS three times last summer. Extraordinarily addictive bike - def a 'speed-camera-botherer'. I think in the real world the R is more than enough bike, but the RS def has that 'look' to it. There's a really good long term MCN review of the RS on youtube, including a trip in the Alps.
Great news, and I should think so too. After all what's the point of buying new (with all the associated depreciation and costs of dealer servicing) if the manufacturer doesn't honour the 2 year warranty.
However, is the new replacement going to similarly rust again? It seems the chrome on the spokes is not very thick and so depending on usage, it may well occur again, at which point you'll be back to square one, but almost certainly with no hope of another replacement. Can you negotiate with dealer/Triumph to instead pay for replacement stainless spokes, or at least a partial payment towards what would be the ultimate solution? Did anyone actually determine whether the rims have a tubeless profile, i.e. with the bead retaining ridge?
Few months time and back to square one. If you are mechanical you can change them yourself. i've done it many times. Its not the black art that many seem to fear.
Spokes started going rusty at less than a year old. I use a brass brush to get rust off, good for getting tar spots off the silencers too without scratching the chrome.
