Hey all, Just slipped off the stock exhaust and slipped on the Remus torpedo looking things. Removed the sound baffle. Has a nice burp and pop on the down shift. I haven't decided to get new headers yet, also, not sure how legal it is in California to do a de-cat anyway. Enjoy the vid
Hi Chris, i fitted Remus mufflers with the restrictor removed when i purchased my R, i recently fitted a "Meercat" crossover to eliminate the "cat", great exhaust note but quite a lot of "popping" on over-run. I recall my BMW K100 many years ago behaved the same after fitting a free flowing exhaust. The Thruxton performs faultlessly with the crossover and mufflers wuth no tune changes. Regards Kerry
I had some air leaking out from the connection point. It seemed like it affected the lower end of the throttle range, as if some torque was lost. I sealed it with Permatex and now it feels great. I’ll have to take a look at the Meercat crossover.
Hi All, Just read Chris' post and was thinking about getting new slip-on's for my 2014 Thruxton 900. Does anyone know if the bike needs re-mapping after changing the stock exhausts?
Hi Pedro, if you haven't changed anything on the air inlet side (removed the snorkle/airbox baffle, installed a free-flow airfilter etc) then you shouldn't need to remap. Once you start allowing more air in, then a remap would be beneficial.
Hi Chris. To only way to get any descent sound out of you exhausts is to get the bike cat removed. There are so many baffles in there and flow restrictions . The hole bike comes alive and the exhaust note is to die for. Its the best money ive spent on my bike.
