Hi everyone. A newbie here and my first post is a technical problem. Engine overheating and the fan failing to come on. I have checked fuse and changed the relay and bypassed the fan to ensure it runs and the eng temp sensor remittance is in spec so have run out of fault diagnosis. Any one have anything else I can check to find out why the fan is not kicking in ? Cheers
Hello and welcome to the nut house you should fit right in. Someone will be along shortly too help. Tucker
Is the thermostat opening ? Take it out drop it in a pot of water on the stove on high see if it opens. If it doesn't that will be your problem.
It’s taking about 20 mins to overheat soni think if it was defective it would either happen really quickly or very slowly. Also the fan should still have kicked in. I read somewhere today that previously they have had an issue with the temp sensor not working so I will replace that first. I ll look at the thermostat tomorrow as that’s another tick in the box. Cheers
Cheers. Checked that and ensured there was coolant in both. Maybe an airlock so will bleed it tomorrow
Will let you know how it goes. I suspect the temp sensor in the cyl head and might order one just in case. Very irritating when everything passes the test but still the fan won’t kick in.
lol, And the bike is a ............. please excuse me is I missed it I have a cold and drinking whisky/honey etc to fix my throat.
So have bled the cyl head bleed point. Put fuel tank back on but can only find one brown plug to fit. Now have the yellow Eng light on dash. What have I missed ?
yaaay. Fans running at six bars. Still have the yellow warning light on dash. Good but still an issue. So that tells me air lock and all good now it s been bled. I m hoping I’ve missed an electrical connection somewhere. So one brown Big elec plug and a small one then one vent hose and the fuel line. What’s missing ? 2005 sprint.
Three hot cold cycles should remove engine light if you have done everything corretly.Heat bike till fan then off cool repeat
If you turned on the ignition (not necessarily starting the engine) without the brown tank plug connected it would trigger the fault. As mentioned 3 hot/cold cycles and the error should clear Glad you got it sorted yourself
