So, strange issue today - I installed the New Rage Cycles tail tidy (I need to cut the old tail tidy plate to fit, but that's a different story) yesterday - popped out to the shop to get some fuses (i.e. the bike was running) and parked her up.

Today, I had to move the bike across the street while they cut down the trees outside my house - no issue there. Come later in the day, I started the bike up, departed - then got around 50m before the bike died and I had to roll it home. The engine is turning over, I can smell fuel - but there's no ignition. I am guessing there is something wrong with the spark.

Any ideas on where I start to diagnose this? I find it very odd that it ran briefly before dying.

    Cheers,
    Gus

Have you run a plug out, earthed it to the head (rag over plughole for safety) crank engine and checked for a spark?
If no spark you need to eliminate the ignition coil and its power supply, then the crank position sensor (another coil) and the ECU plus all the connections. Got a multimeter?
Just verify the spark status and we can take it from there.....

And rule out a fuelling problem like a MAP sensor that could cause flooding.....unlikely once started but if it was cold....

So, looks like one of the ignition wires is broken...may be part of the issue...doh

    Cheers for the help!
