I took a punt on one of the TEC x-pipes on special offer (thanks for the heads up wizard), for the Thruxton R. So, before I get stuck in & start grazing my knuckles, buckling my knees & generally swearing a lot, anybody fitted one themselves that can provide any tips? Ive watched Tony's 'Man Cave' video for the Street Twin, but the Thruxton fitting may be slightly different. Cheers Bonz
Ok I posted a complete instruction here. One thing to add. Reaching and retightening the upper and lower left side frame bolt. Have a 7mm shorty box wrench to make the job easier. http://www.triumphrat.net/water-cooled-twins-talk/826610-british-customs-x-pipe-install.html
Yup, I had a friend with me with another TTR and we did both bikes at the same time. 2 heads and 4 hands definitely made the job easier. The results are worth the effort.
Well, as you said the fueling is already spot on. Just more throaty and just as smooth. Oh, and I did remove the snorkel from the air box. Open her up and you can hear the intake now. I’d be more than happy to lend a had, you just have to pay the air fair.
Hi George has a video on his website which is really useful to watch. Attach the barackets to the x pipe before putting it on to the bike. I took 2 hours trying to fit the brackets when on the bike 10 mins when off the bike!! My T120 sounds amazing and seems faster whether this is wishful thinking Hope this helps
